It's not a game
It's not a game, it's not a novel, it's both at the same time. But i didn't enjoy playing (or reading) the game cause it was not both at the same time and because the story was not that good neither. If you are looking for that kind of "game" then buy it, if not, move along.

One of the best indie games ever
While this game looks and plays like a 16 bit era rpg with minor puzzles, it's phenomenal score, top-notch writing and mixture of humor with emotion will draw you in. It's rare that I've played a game that made me laugh, swear and want to cry all within about single level. I can't wait for the sequel!

Highly recommended
I was very hesitant to buy this because at first glance it looked a bit depressing. Luckily, I was wrong. While it has several issues, I cannot really hold a grudge against it, because I feel like I became richer by playing it. The game is basically a walking simulator. Occasionally it tries not to be, but I wish it had not. In this type of game, the most important factors are the atmosphere and the story. As for the atmosphere, the music is very nice, but the visuals do not fit. Fortunately, the story carries the whole thing over any obstacles. Although the first 15 minutes are a bit dull, and the ending feels rushed and oversimplified. But the rest is flawless. A masterpiece.

Being a videogame holds it back
As others have stated, there's not much gameplay to speak of, so the only thing going for it is its plot. The set-up is interesting, the characters are quirky, and there aren't any plot-holes I'm aware of. The meat of the plot was "good" but the ending left me dissatisfied (I won't go into details for the sake of spoilers). I'm left wondering: "Why add the gameplay, if it contributes nothing?" It is good storytelling (and good music) bogged down by the medium of a videogame.
