The pinnacle of western RPGs

I've clocked hundreds of games and particularly enjoy RPGs, but this game surpasses them all. Individually, all the parts it's made of, the world, characters, story, combat, facial animations, etc, each are all loving crafted, higher quality and more interesting than so many others in the genre and then they all come together making the whole so much more than the sum of its parts. Having played the series from the start it took me a few attempts to get through the original game and a couple to get through the second, but with each they improved and this final chapter draws you in from the beginning and doesn't let go. So if you're on the fence about trying it based on the previous entries you can ignore them and start with this, or if you did play them you can enjoy all the references to your actions in past games and they way they effect this story in sometimes large and sometimes subtle ways. Side quests are genuinely interesting and the conversation and ambiguous moral system ranging from mercenary to altruist with their unforeseen outcomes fits the character and story tone seamlessly. I very rarely get off my arse to review things, but this game is just so fantastic I needed to gush about it just to get it off my chest, it elevates the genre and raises the bar for future games.

Patch 4.0 makes game unplayable

years of playing without problem and now wont even start, they probably need more ppl playing cyberpunk...

Next gen upgrade is a bad joke.

Full disclosure, I'm someone who likes to bash ray tracing in general for having a huge performance impact while having almost no noticeable visual effect... but I genuinely can't tell what ray tracing does for this game, apart from make it run at 3 FPS in places where it ran at 90+ before. For the record, no, the next gen upgrade did not make the game better. In fact, seeing as it removed MSAA as an option, I'd argue it made it look worse in a way. Forget the fact that it still doesn't look nearly as good as the pre-release version, not even 7 years later, and probably runs worse too. Not impressed, I hope this streak of garbage releases doesn't force CD Projekt into bankruptcy, purely because I don't want to see GOG go down with them, but damn if they don't deserve it.

Not playable after next gen patch, don't buy it. I'm very dissapointed

Next Gen update is a MESS

Simply do not buy it until they fix the damn thing. Start a new game - it crashes after the opening cinematic Sure CDPR. Might change the review if they ever fix all the issues with it. We'll see with time. If you thought that Cyberpunk 2077 was a one-off for this company, then you were very wrong.
