Trolley problem: the game

I'm not a fan of the Sapkowsky Witcher books. I started with the old Polish mini-series and enjoyed it. Then I tried to read the books. The first three were fine, even if they shamelessly plagiarized Michael Moorcock, but I was fine with a vulgar slavic Elric wannabe. Then Sapkowsky set into a formula with his novels: explosive beginning, boring middle, intriguing cliffhanger. The final novel was unbelievably bad, so I gave up on the series. Then the first Witcher game came out, and I liked the fact that they took the world and characters of the books, but not much of the story. The game had its problems, like the illusion of choice, but overall wasn't too bad for its time. I skipped the second Witcher game - my sister played it - guess I just didn't care enough to try it. Then the third game came out and everyone tried to convince me I should play it and that it was the best RPG of all time. I suffered through a few dozen hours of the game trying my best to like it, but from the beginning it was clear the quest designer got so enamored with the trolley problem that almost every memorable quest had to be some variation of it, and the worst part is - you were limited by two terrible choices not by the narrative, but by the dialogue system. I can suffer through outdated graphics and janky gameplay for a good story and good roleplaying. But the cookie-cutter graphics and repetitive gameplay of Witcher 3 were not enough to justify its horrible writing. It's just a continuous stream of misery, and I don't care for it at all.

The reddit circlejerk around this game is batshit insane and everyone saying this is the best game ever made just needs to play other games lmao. The good: I like witcher because the only games that come to close to it in size and story choices are bethesda games and xenoblade which have never hooked me in for a variety of reasons. Unlike bethesda games, witcher 3 isn't held together with tape and paperclips. The bad: The combat sucks. This is the first game i've played where i've wanted to outright skip fights because they were that boring. My save has 250 hours on the max difficulty and i only died 5 times. Every mob fight is the same and that's bad because this game is long and throws mob fights everywhere. Downgrade from TW2

Not good... And I tried so much to like it because Geralt de Rivia is a character Id enjoy. To tell you I actually played the first game! (and it was actually better than this one, combat included) TW3 fails to provide a fun and deep experience. Everything is... stale, and unpolished. and theres a crazy amount of content, the game is HUGE. But its gameplay... Pretty SMALL. Combat is unispiring and boring, a pure spam and watch animations. Quests are quite meh compared to the previous games. Exploration is very bad, and you got wayy to many rewards in the game that you really dont need to grind or explore at all. In this game, You are always wayy to strong, but you as a player, you never actually do anything. The batman view for witcher sense is a BIG mistake, something that action games copy a lot lately. The writting is pretty good and fun, but watching dialogs on youtube gives more fun than playing this game sadly. No good action, No good tacic/strategies, theres nothing! Only dialogs and a huge empty world.
