To those worried about an upgrade.

The Game of the Year edition is essentially the Base game, all the free DLC, and the two expansions. Basically, Base Game + Season Pass = GOTY. No need for an upgrade version. As for the game, itself, you could not ask for a better adventure! Amazing main story, engaging side quests, lovable characters you actually care about, beautiful landscapes, this game has it all. There are so many choices you can make that will change the outcome of the story, for good or for bad. I can't recommend this game enough. I put over 100 hrs into it in my first playthrough, and that was BEFORE the expansions released!

Other Devs should play TW3

I believe any developers out there about to work on a new game should play The Witcher 3 (at least through the Baron quest line!) before venturing forth on their endeavors. It would inspire them to greatness and give them confidence that amazing things can be done - AND be profitable. * DLC that is more than extra game assets (though they have that, too) and doesn't feel as if it was ripped from the timeline just to make more money * Side quests that are involving and interesting * Adult content that is handled tastefully and adds to the story * technology that is leagues beyond what other dev teams are putting out, this gen and the next (from what we've seen from other AAA companies) Just about everything CDPR has done over the years has been friendly to the PC gaming community, as well as redefining the genre of the cRPG; TW3 is an amazing game on top of CDPR's treatment of us PC gamers. Hats off to CDPR and heres to their next effort, Cyberpunk 2077!

Ultimate version

The Witcher 3 is about the most fantastic I've played. Coming all the way from the dark ages of text only adventures (computerized since 1979), I am a true silver gamer. I have gotten a little picky I have to admit, but when I first tried The Witcher, the one that started it all I was amazed by even the story. Here, finally, the old Zork in me found something to hold on to. Combining action, adventure and RPG in a way that finally gave meaning to even the graphics. This is it, a rare breed of games that have earned their place in future classic games history and if you have not tried the Witcher - Start from the first and work your way up to this. Hours upon hours of rewarding history and gaming ahead of you and besides, a good story for future grand children - you were part of it :) While I am one who bought the game a year ahead of release and have understanding for the view of not having to pay again, I do consider the choice. After all I did buy it a year up front to support development and since I am dying to see what's next...

The best RPG to date

I don't think this title was ever as deserved as The Witcher 3 deserves it. Sure, there were Deus Ex, Dragon Age: Origins, Legend of Zelda and other games to bear this title, by setting a new highest standard bar. But the thing is: it's 2016. All those games and the things they brought are expected now. To match them is an achievement still. But to beat all of them in every respect? That's not something you see every day. Or year. Or decade. It's true that some games posess better gameplay. The controls in Witcher 3 are the worst thing in the game - they are clunky and unresponsive, and will be the reason for 90% of your deaths. And some games have better plots (though not many), some - better characters (though very few). No game, in my opinion, has better quests than Witcher 3. But to combine excellent combat, great storyline, fantastic characters, incredibly well-written and interesting quests with an INSANE amount of content AND to keep ALL of that consistently at that level of quality through the entire experience? No game has ever done that. No game ever even come CLOSE to doing that. Not Deus Ex. Not Zelda. Nothing. If you haven't played this game yet, I can only assume, you have been too busy. Dedicate your next vacation to the Witcher 3. It'll be the best one you've had.

An incredible game from incredible devs!

Everything about this game feels so incredibly lifelike. This game is what happens when a group of brilliant people come up with a brilliant idea and no corporate fat cats chop that idea down in the name of profit. The characters and locations in this game are so rich in detail that's it's just mind-boggling (the Skellige Isles are so cold, yet the people there feel so warm, and I don't think a game has ever made me feel so in tune with the environment and ambience). I have to be honest, I played my first play through with a pirated copy, especially since there's no multiplayer aspect to the game, however I can't help but utterly respect CD Projekt Red's take on game piracy, DRM, and their undying support of the gaming community in general. Devs shouldn't spurn the community to crack down on pirates, they should make a game worth buying, right? And I've never played a better single-player game in my entire life. Therefore, I will be buying the GOTY edition, right now, legitimately, because it's the least I can do to support an incredible group of game developers who I feel, support me too, and fellow gamers like me. I also have a really solid feeling that i'll be pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077 too. Thank you CDPR.
