It's Great but definitely overhyped

I have over 80 hours on steam and I just finished my second playthrough. This game is great in so many aspects but it is also a let down in several key areas. Let me be perfectly clear I 100% reccomend this game to anyone who likes fantasy rpg's this game is up there with the other industry titan Skyrim. First the positves: 1.) The story is incredible. The voice acting is amazing and you will 100% get emotionally attatched to the characters like I did. 2.) The world is absolutely massive and extremely well designed. There are two very large cities and a sprawling world in between them as well as many unique areas and hidden quests. 3.) This game has the most explicit sex scenes of any AAA game. 4.) The game has an active modding community with over 100 million downloads on The Nexus. And now the negatives: 1.) At the end of the game almost all of the core characters are inaccessible which really detracts from the immersion. Also the characters that are still in the game world have little to no new dialouge. 2.) All non quest giving NPC's have generic names and have only one to two diaglouge options which they annoyingly cycle through over and over. This really detracted from the immersion for me and compared to Skyrim was a big letdown. It's cool to have super full cities but when you look closer every npc type is nearly identical(slight model variations like a different color outfit or a different gender version of that npc) 3.) The capital city of Vizima where the emporer rules is innaccesible. You can only travel to the emperors throne room. This was really dissapointing as the city is so important in the lore. I feel like they ran out of budget and had to cut the capital city from the game. Very dissapointing hopefully they can add it in a future DLC but it should have been in the game... 4.) Some quests can be really repetitive at times and boil down to 1. someone asks you to kill a monster 2. track the monster 3. kill the monster and 4. get your reward.

Quel jeu populaire dont on entend que du bien. Et pourtant, il est très loin d'être parfait. Déjà parce qu'il plante de façon inopinée. Et oui, un jeu de 2016 qui plante encore aujourd'hui, ça la fout mal. On ouvre l'inventaire, ça plante ; le jeu lance un chargement, ça plante ... Globalement, je trouve que l'histoire se laisse suivre sans être exceptionnelle. On manque quand même d'implication, je trouve. Bref, tout le reste est très moyen. Le gameplay est basique au possible : attaque rapide, puissante, esquive, parade. Et voilà, c'est tout. Vous pouvez ajouter nombre de potions que vous pouvez boire. Mais c'est hyper compliqué. Il y en a trop, ça prendrait trop de temps de boire des potions à chaque combat. Au niveau des signes (les "sorts"), je n'ai pas non plus trouvé ça très utile non plus à part le signe du bouclier. Retenez que cette pauvreté de gameplay rend le jeu globalement simple. En jouant en difficile, je n'ai quasiment jamais galéré. Bien sûr, au début c'est toujours plus compliqué ... Mais il fallait bien que je me confronte à des ennemis qui avaient 15 niveaux de plus que moi pour être un peu mis au défi. Au niveau de l'équipement, c'est toujours pareil. Si vous mettez de l'équipement unique comme des ensembles qui donnent des bonus, ça rend tout le reste complètement inutile et superflu. Pour l'exploration, c'est très pénible. Il y a beaucoup trop de bricoles à ramasser dans nombres de caisses éparpillées dans les villes surtout. Cela prend trop de temps. Lorsqu'il y a des gardes, ils nous attaquent parce qu'on "vole". Mais rien ne nous est indiqué clairement que l'on en train de voler. Et lorsqu'on va vite car il y en a énormément ... eh bien on finit par les tuer car il n'y a aucune conséquence. Sinon, encore les défauts des mondes ouverts avec la répétitivité des tâches, le rythme de l'histoire cassé par tout ce que le monde propose, un jeu rallongé artificiellement ... En effet, comptez au moins 175 heures pour tout faire avec les DLC.

Good Game That Could've Been Great

For me, Witcher 3 was a good, but not great, game. On paper, it should be my favorite game of all time since it ticks all of my boxes: RPG, Fantasy, Great writing, etc.. Sadly, one of the most important parts of the game, the controls, felt clunky and the fighting never felt satisfying, even on Death March. The 3 stars are mostly for the game's writing, which is pretty great at times. You can tell they put a lot of time into most of the side quests, which I appreciated. In the end, though, I got bored about 15-20 hours into the game. I kept waiting for the fun to kick in, but for me it never did. I still recommend everyone check it out since it seems people that enjoy it REALLY enjoy it, so it's worth the gamble.
