Great game, only one problem. Modding.

This game is outstanding, and if you think you would like the massive story driven world, buy it. ranged combat is not a thing, it is a tool to deal airborne threats, to put them within reach of your sword. All in all, a great game, even the optional minigames are great (you may have heard of Gwent). The ONLY problem is if you like modding, beware that GOG has its own game files, that are DIFFERENT than every other copy of the game, and this split the modding community quite heavily. patches do exist to make things work, but only if the modder supported said patch. The game is great, what GOG did to it is very much not great. Look into it yourself, but basically 'goty' in the modding scene refers to the GOG copy specifically, because at the time GOG was the only one calling it a goty. any other places selling this game are not the 'goty' aka GOG copy of the game. the files are different, it is a huge pain. If you do not care about that, buy it, it is a wonderful game, but if you do care about it, do your research as to what one you want, as some mods support non-gog version only, some support gog only, some support both, and some support the unification patch where it makes goty and non-goty the same from a code standpoint. If anyone from GOG reads this, please, please please please, never let this happen again.

Best game that's ever been made!

Literally, my life is now the witcher 3 i'd probably trade my wife to experience this game again for the first time !

Absurdly great

My one complaint about The Witcher 3:The Wild Hunt is that other new releases compare so poorly that I can barely enjoy them. The Witcher 2 represented a quantum leap over The Witcher and a similar trend continues with the The Witcher 3, which is remarkable considering the fact that The Witcher 2 was itself an incredibly good game. In TW3, the geniuses at CD Projekt Red expand everything that made TW2 great - the deep and dark story, interesting characters, gorgeous visuals - across an incredibly large, detailed and open world. I recall feeling great skepticism upon first hearing that TW3 was set in a large open world - I could not imagine that CDPR could possibly cram a large open world game with the amount of content required to maintain the same rich density of storytelling, characters and memorable moments that so distinctly characterized TW2. But they did it. Somehow. This is the greatest achievement of TW3. This is not to say that TW3 is merely a vastly larger TW2. Every aspect of TW3 is improved over its predecessor. The combat is fluid, challenging and deep - but I believe that you must play on the "Deathmarch" difficulty to really appreciate this. The crafting system is vast. The character build has been entirely revamped, allowing more flexibility in choosing combat, sign and alchemy abilities. The action is balanced with an engrossing main story that is best digested in chunks, taking time out to explore the world and generally behave like a witcher. Story-line choices in TW3 are as difficult as ever, with little in the way of clear right-and-wrong outcomes. The DLCs, included with this latest edition, are simply the best DLCs ever made for any game. "Hearts of Stone" is a major expansion with a great story and "Blood and Wine" is so vast it may as well have been called "The Witcher 4". The base game plus the DLCs tie together elements from TW1, TW2 and the stories of Andrzej Sapkowski for "full circle" satisfaction. Amazing.

The Masterpiece 3

I don't own this game on GOG, but on Steam. Overall i played 700 hours in this game. It has graphics that are better than a lot of 2017 games, GOTY includes best datadiscs ever. Believe me, I wanted to played The Witcher 3 2 times more just to play datadics again, or try out new builds. You have skill tree of Sword, Magic, Alchemy and Others, which can give you some extra stuff that will improve your build. Game has very good armor styles. There are Witcher gears for 4 schools, if you buy Blood and Wine, you will get another ones. All Witcher gears are: Feline, Griffin, Bear, Wolf, Viper, Manticore. Each of them gives boost for your playstyle, if you have for example full Feline set equipped, you have main boost. Game has beatiful slavic music, no electronic bullshit, only folklore, flute, etc. Music adds to atmosphere, so every location has its own special feeling and its on you what you like the most. Locations are these (datadics included): Velen, destroyed Temeria. Novigrad, Oxtenfurt included, Redania. Kaer Morhen, Kaedwen Skellige Toussiant and Wyzima, these 2 are in NIlfgaard control White Orchard, also Nilfgaard This game is extremly lore rich, book respectful, the story is based on books a lot, Sapkowski said it is art. You can meet characters that are not important in story anyhow, yet they are there from books. COMBAT - Choreographic art, nearly 100% accurate, still fantasy tho. STORY - As I said before, extremly lore rich, there are 2 acts, first one is little bit worse than second, in Act 2, you have though choices that have very big impact on ending. Also there is minigame that is seriously extremly big fun GWENT

A game of the year and one to binge on.

Looking for an RPG game with a vast open world, interesting characters, and a rich story? Then look no further. The visuals / graphics: This game will shine on any decent PC. The graphics are of extremely high quality and will enhance the gameplay experience by introducing extreme levels of immersion . Moreover, the textures and objects around the game feel purposely placed and suit the environment they are found in. Without this dedication to detail from PROJEKT RED, the game may have felt emptier or incomplete. PROJEKT RED truly are masters of building beautifully detailed worlds, for example, look no further than the blood and wine DLC for the game which features a mastercrafted fantasy city and forest of toussaint. I'd rate the visuals and graphics a 10/10. The story and characters: For those new to this series, the game has a lot of plot related to previous games. Undoubtedly those with prior knowledge from the previous Witcher games will understand and enjoy the plot more, however, even with no knowledge of the previous games you will still have a great time due to the great subtle explanations given throughout the game which will slowly bring you up to pace with the story. The characters are exceptionally unique and are packed with great personalities and lore. Not only will you end up caring about the characters a lot throughout the game, you will care about them after the game is over because very few can match them in terms of likability. I'd rate the story and characters 9/10 and 10/10 respectively. Mechanics: I'm running out of words so you'll have to take my word that they are great. Rated 8/10. To conclude, The Witcher 3 is an unmissable experience for any fan of the previous installments to the series or anyone interested in an in depth action RPG. I've invested well over 500 hours on my first playthrough completing as many of the seemingly endless and fun quests throughout the game. I'd highly recommend playing this game. Overall score: 10/10
