The Gwenter 3

The Gwenter 3: The Wild Hunt for Cards is a game about Geralt of Rivia, a master card player on a quest to be the best across all the realms. There is also this other mode, in the game, where you wander around a bunch of trees and talk to boring people that don't play Gwent or have Gwent cards for sale. I don't really understand this part myself, but some people really seem to like it as well.

You have to play it to understand.

The game could be described in one word. Unbelievable. When you are riding Roach (your horse) back to the main city of Toussaint on a windy night, passing the eerie, bustling trees on the hill side and hearing the distant howl of a wolf deep in the dense forest beside you , finally being able to make out the bright lights in a dark landscape lit by the deep-blue light of the night sky is truly, truly, an unbelievable experience. When you ride through the streets of Novigrad, passing the fantastic buildings of bright-red brick, the busy marketplace, the cheerful chatter of mischievous children, hearing calls of the unusual whore attempting to take her business to the daytime, you feel as if thought all you are missing is the smell of fresh air mixed. When you are riding through Skellige... OK that is too much to explain in words. :) You will mostly remember the game not for it's incredible stories, unforgettable characters, and rippling choices, but the feeling of traversing and discovering a land that is truly, truly, too good to be true, too beautiful to put into words. CDPR has not created a game. They've created a WORLD that wants players to stay, forever. Trust me, watch the anniversary trailer a week after you have finished the game and you'll understand the love that has gone into this game. If you are uncertain about this game, it's nuances, it not being your cup of tea... I still highly, highly, highly, recommend you get this. When you finish the game, you will be so emotionally heightened that you will feel as if though you robbed CDPR by buying it for $60.

Great improvement over #2, which had too many prompts based on pushing a button (climbing, for example). #2 was fun, had great elements but felt too much like a console game (stand here and slash by tapping Y). #3 is open world, completely free to explore and if you manage to get ahead of the game it does a great job keeping track so you receive credit for everything when the time arrives. Unlike the second game, I felt I had the choice of moving when and where i wanted without being prompted. If I felt like having some direction (for quests), it was easy to select that option (or to turn it off so I had to wonder and discover where quests were). The developers did an excellent job updating the game from release and they managed to do so in a way that was not a step backwards, updates actually continually improved on the game's dynamic systems and options. Updates also extended to small graphically elements such as inventory icons, which continued to become more and more refined until perfection. My intent is not to discount the second installment, which had its merits. But #2, aside from much better graphics than #1, was a step backwards in terms of play-ability and choice, etc. etc. etc. Witcher 1 was my top pick in the series until Witcher 3 just blew EVERYTHING away. Great game, great graphics, great fun. If you enjoy games that allow you to wonder aimlessly exploring and discovering, this is it. There are very few things I would ask to be changed in the game and those VERY few things in no way deterred from enjoying the game immensely. Worth buying at full price. One piece of advice, skip the fancy moving hair option.

Confusing options for editions

Game might be great, but for me it is very confusing to know which edition I should purchase. It is unclear what the differences really are in terms of the game experience you will get, between the standard and the complete edition. If someone with more knowledge and kind enough would break up the differences in more detail (since GOG does not think it is necessary to explain things more clearly) I would greatly appreciate and I might decide to buy at some point in the future. Thank you!

Best RPG I've Ever Played

It runs excellently, has one of the most catching storytelling out there and mixes it with polished gameplay and soundtrack. This is the game I will replay over and over again. I highly recommend getting base game and DLCs. Outstanding, CD PROJEKT RED!
