Wanted to love it.. Cant

Witcher 2 isn't bad. It has great "moments". But I'm a little suprised at how gushing all the reviews are. Arguably the first Witcher, dispite it's many flaws, was a better game. Witcher 2 has too many poor design decisions and unbalanced difficulty and gameplay issues to be a great game. Your character seems on the verge or death or invincible in most battles depending on the chapter and what upgrades you select. I don't like the new potion mechanism or the character upgrade UI. I don't care for the changes to the way books and lore are used. Level design is ok, but too often becomes a confusing series of mazes that you have to find your way through to reach the next point in a quest. As a fan of the first game, I wanted to love this game, but I have a hard time entirely endorsing it.

needs more monitor support

i have this for the xbox 360, i played a bit of it in my pc. my monitor resolution and aspect ratio is not supported 21:9 and 2560x1080. This game looks better than skyrim it just needs a bit more updates for new monitors

starting problems

i had critical problems to launch the game. a few months later i installed it and tried again. voilla it works no almost flawlessly. im at the beginning of the first lvl, so i cant tell you much about the game, but it looks great and the introduction-video will blow you away :)

Hoped for more

I loved the original Witcher, and maybe my expectations were too high. Although this installment is visually spectacular and much more polished, I never quite felt immersed. The skill tree is a weak point, and the locations lacked character. Stealth scenes felt unecessarily irritating. In the original I wanted to explore every corner, and I didn't connect in the same way in this release. Nevertheless, I heartity recommend both games, but don't skip the original.

Awesome and challenging

The story may seem a bit complicated at first, and the beginning tutorial terrible, but it's only made that way because it will make you want to delve deeper into the story and figuring things out on your own. Very little hand-holding in fighting style, and how you intend to defeat bosses and such. Not completely open world, but definitely shouldn't be because the game is heavily story driven (even more than skyrim) and that would sort of take away from the plot. If you play this game, totally take your time to understand whats going on and do some side quests, (which help you level up and train to keep up with fighting in the main story). The third chapter was too short imo, and I wish they had made it longer, like chapter 2.
