if you can get over ..
well, to be honest, i hated on this game truly stupid fight mechanism and few more things .. the story is cool but the major elements like combat mechanism is really ugly .. if you can get past this, you like it like rpg but i can tell you, you will hate it also .. 2/5 is my rating

In as few words as possible.
For less than five dollars, there is absolutely no reason you should forgo playing this game. It is worth FAR more than that.

The combat ruins everything
Hands down, Witcher has the most annoying, repetitive and boring combat in any game I've ever played. I would honestly rather have it use a JRPG style combat system like you see in Final Fantasy, this system is so bad. That said, the general consensus seems to be that if you have the patience to get past that and the first part of the game you'll find a lot more to it. If you have the patience, it's probably worth a shot. I'd suggest, however, that you grab the demo if you can lest you wind up like me, quitting before you get out of the first town because you can longer see the screen through your streaming tears of boredom. The characters are interesting, the story is promising, and the initial quests seem to hint at a good game trying to get out, but oh, that horrible, inescapable, boring, annoying, mindless combat system just ruins it all for me.

Very enjoyable for the most part.
Only starting and its excellent, but, the inability to skip cut scenes is seriously starting to get on my nerves! I have watched the same ******* cut scene about 50 times. . .its the very first boss. Dev's for the love of all that is holy, give me a ******* skip option! Its great game though.

First Impressions - an hour of crashing
NOTE: This is rated 4 stars for one basic reason: the game keeps crashing. I have a newly built laptop running windows 7, and yet my computer claims that the launcher isn't compatible, so I don't really know what to do. So it lost a star for that. It also would have probably lost another star for some annoyances I have with the story, described later, but I haven't played much of it yet, so I'll keep it at 4. I'll be fair here - I've only played the first hour or so of the game. It was plenty fun- despite what I've heard about the Witcher it wasn't too difficult to figure everything out in terms of using potions and spells and such, and the combat was a good mix of twitch skills and tactics. Story was intriguing - even if the fact that the main guy has amnesia is sort of glossed over pretty quickly- honestly it seems like more of an excuse of not explaining who people are than a real element of the plot. Also the one female character I encountered has some serious "STAB ME IN MY BOOBS!" armor going on- which is fun, but not great for immersion.
