Classic point-and-click

The Longest Journey is probably the epitome of the classic point-and-click adventure game. Everything seems to go well and in just the right way. The puzzles are mostly fair and doable. The graphics are very good. The story is that of April Ryan who is an art student in the future. She discovers the ability to travel between dimensions and must do so to fulfill her adventure and her destiny. There is a great mythology within one of the dimensions that adds a lot of depth to that part of the story. This game has elements of science fiction as well as fantasy. Probably one of my favourite parts of the game is breaking into and exploring a castle that is hovering in mid-air.

Spellbinding

As a story about stories, it would be easy for The Longest Journey to become another trite fantasy, but thankfully it remains anything but. It is possibly the last great point & click adventure, a captivating blend of sci-fi and modern urban fantasy, encapsulated by the very real, grounded maturation of a faulty, flighty normal girl. Quite simply, a masterpiece.

The Best.

This game has always been the highest rating game for me. I absolutely love it. I will never ever grow tired of it, in my 10 years of playing of it. Pure genius.

Love this game

I absolutely love this game, as well as the sequel "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey". Both of these games have great character development, and intriguing story line. They are fun to play and are long enough to get your money's worth for sure. This is one of those games that you can play over again, and in about a year or so, I think you will be finding it calling your name to play it again. My only complaint is that the developer said there would be a 3rd game to complete the trilogy to answer the unanswered questions and wrap it up, which I've been waiting for for years, and it has not come out yet.

Adventure gaming at its finest!

I had bought this game back when it originally came out just on a bit of an impulse, but I am *so* glad I did. If you have any kind of love for classic adventure gaming, this game is a MUST have! Puzzles which challenge but don't frustrate, an epic plot spanning two separate dimensions and beyond, characters which are well-written and interesting, and beautifully rendered settings. This game is a critical success and a fan favorite for good reasons! Now stop reading this and, if you haven't already done so, buy it!
