Short bites of light-hearted weird
If you are a fan of Twin Peaks and retro point-and-click games that poke fun at the genre you will love this game. The different "cases" being investigated mean it's easy to play for just 30-45 minutes if you want to and still feel like you made progress. Very fun!

Brimming with jokes and references
This game is a vehicle for jokes. It is quite lovable with a lot of creative ideas and settings but your enjoyment will predominantly be determined by how funny the jokes are to you and how much time you have to kill. I wish I enjoyed it more because there's nothing really bad about it. I don't mind that it's not a talkie, I don't mind the silly humor, I don't mind that puzzles are simple. It just didn't feel that worthwhile to me. Maybe play it with a friend or limit yourself to a case per day. Otherwise you might start wondering about what you're doing with your life and that's where all the fun ends.

Un brin indigeste
Je m'attendais à un "point and clic" classique avec un peu d'humour.. ben, pas vraiment. Côté, "classique", on doit résoudre 9 enquêtes distinctes. Certaines sont assez sympas, d'autres un brin débiles. Le tout mené par un duo improbable : un détective "normal" et son acolyte exagérément décérébré. Les qq puzzles rencontrés n'ont de puzzle que le nom, tellement ils sont simplets. Le reste demande juste de cliquer partout, ramasser qq objets.. à combiner, parfois, en dépit du bon sens. Les pixels sont tellement gros que cela relève du pâté visuel. Aucun mouvement de personnage. tout est statique. Et le tout est baigné d'un verbiage constant dont l'humour(?) ne dépasse pas le collège. Et je ne pense sincèrement pas que cela viennent de la traduction française, le traducteur n'avait juste rien à se mettre sous la dent... En résumé : Soulagée d'en avoir fini avec ce jeu fast food lourd

Hilarious, supernatural point & click
Set in the lovecraftian town of Twin Lakes, detective McQueen and his sidekick Dooley have to solve a number of supernatural cases building up to something spooky. Unlike point & click adventures of the past, Darkside Detective gives you a number of "cases" to solve in the town of Twin Lakes. This makes it easy to play it for 20-45 minutes at a time, without having to remember what happened last time. I like the modern style - characters don't walk, so I don't have to wait 10s each time I click. Dialogue is instant and very funny. The game constantly breaks the 4th wall and doesn't take itself very seriously. Some of the cases are a bit short, but they get more sophisticated toward the end - and, hint hint, there are bonus cases after you finish the regular ones. The charm really comes from the great music, pixely art, and the wit. I had fun just clicking every box in a room because of all the care and detail that went into it - almost everything in the game is a joke of some sort. Lovely gem if you feel like spending a few hours in the mysterious town of Twin Lakes and listening to the banter between two bizarro cops talk trash to each other.
