STORY
Kingdom of Myrtana, a country whose foundations crumble under the winds of war and unrest raging throughout its lands. Play as Marvin, a young man who was driven away from his home by the war looming over the horizon. The reality of the Archolos, a place he runs to, unfortunately proves to be far from his expectations. Rich merchants craving only for more gold, servants of the king Rhobar II who put into practice every new and more restrictive laws and waves of desperate refugees who just like the protagonist search for a decent life. Marvin will have to find a way to survive in this land of treachery, opportunism and opposing interests.
You are not the chosen hero, you are not a villain. You are a survivor.

They made combat worse. How?
I have played all the Gothics. The control scheme was questionable (I mean terrible) with those. These guys made combat worse. How? I have to stay locked on to someone to swing OR I must move to swing? Not much of a choice. I give up. I can't play this any more.

Crashes every minute.
A big disappointment. I am unable to have any opinion about the story, graphics or audio. The game crashes every minute or more. Impossible to play.

ACCESS VIOLATION crash
I think I put this review in the Polish version with a title indicating dates. If so, that's a mistake so please remove it. Sorry. Here is a copy of the same review but with a more pertinent title: No response yet from the game developers on the forum for The Chronicles of Myrtana: I bought Gothic II from GOG to play The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos. Gothic II is working fine, but here is what I get when I try to run The Chronicles of Myrtana (latest version is 1.1.3): Gothic II -- 2.6 (fix) has caused an access violation at address 003A1B68h by attempting to 'read' from address 00AB40D8h My system is: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor 3.60 GHz 16 GB ram Windows 10 Home Edition The last 2 big games I've purchased from GOG and played on this system are The Witcher III and X4 Foundations--never any crash due to access violation. So, I don't think it's my system causing the problem. Note: I played Gothic II from my own CDs a few years ago. I rate it 5/5, so The Chronicles of Myrtana would likely be 5/5 and not 1/5 if it would run on my system.

If you like Gothic 2
Not a bad effort with lots of stuff to do to keep you busy. Just like Gothic 2 only you are weaker and everything else is stronger so it takes longer. I never make it past the first chapter in the Gothic series as I lose interest after the first 10 hours.
