Fantastic game, just don´t buy it here

Look what can I say about Isaac? Absolutely fantastic roguelike with literal THOUSANDS of hours of gameplay waiting for you. Just... don't buy it here on gog ok? It's not a bad version of the game by any means, but it is drastically inferior to the one on steam. A huge part of Isaac for many is the hunt for Dead God, which simply isn't possible here. Not only are there no achievements on gog, but even if there were you'd still not get it. DAILY CHALLENGES ARE NOT AVAILABLE for whatever reason, meaning getting the Broken Modem is impossible, and by extention Dead God. Not to mention how difficult it will be for you to get your hands on mods, which Isaac got plenty of because of it's fantastic community. If these things don't bother you, go for it. As I said, it's not a bad version of the game and in many ways still better than the console releases. But if they do, Steam is the way to go.

An absolute timesink

Having close to 500 hours on Steam (yet not even close to completing even the base game) this game with its DLCs was an instant buy on GOG. The premise, while seemingly simple, delves deeper into the relationship between Isaac and his mother than it first lets you in and is rather morbid actually. When it comes to the actual gameplay, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a devioushly challenging with its hundreds of items and their synergies (of not all being helpful), various monsters with their own set of movement, secret rooms, paths and endings and curses and additional challenges. There's a lot to absorb, more than any other roguelike I've played in the past, yet it takes more skill than luck to turn a doomed run around. Basing this game on the 500 hours played prior to GOG release, I can say that while it is a solid roguelike, the setting might not be for everyone and can definitely be regarded as distasteful. I'm leaving out 1 star because I still haven't fully finished the game and also for the fact that there are no Linux native builds among in any of the DLCs -however- I haven't had any issues running the game via Wine (although certain versions break the in-game sounds). Bring in the support and it's 5/5, easily.

Outdated Game

The game is a masterpiece but it is not the lastest version. A few days ago the Steam version was updated and they added aquite few changes and some fixes. That is the only thing I ask.

À quoi bon ?

Très nettement ma version préférée du titre, contenant les ajouts indispensables par rapport à la première et dépourvue des ajouts discutables inclus dans les suivantes. Cela dit, il serait ridicule d'ajouter quoi que ce soit sur un jeu que tout bon gamer de plus de dix-huit ans (c'est mieux) connaît aujourd'hui par cœur. On vient juste ici lui donner les cinq étoiles qu'il mérite, en espérant qu'un jour il soit mieux noté que The Witcher 3 (même si ce dernier est très bon, soyons honnête), puis on ferme sa bouche. Une dernière chose quand même GOG : à quand une version sous-titrée fr pour que nous puissions profiter pleinement de l'esprit de ce chef-d'œuvre dans la langue de Maupassant ? merci d'avance, vous êtes des amours ;-)
