Great Game!

I have played Tetris since the Game Boy and NES Version since I was a kid, and I still play Tetris a lot. With my kids also, we love this game. I own a lot of Tetris games, and I have been waiting for a Tetris release on GOG, and here it is FINALLY! This game is not Tetris Effect, Tetris 99 etc..so dont compare it to other new Tetris games. Every Tetris variant is different, and every variant is unique in its own way. This package is a Tetris documentary witch includes more than 15 Tetris games. Let's focus on what's in the package, rather than what's not in the package, and what's in the package is amazing. You get Tetris History in game video files + more than 13+ Classic Tetris games or spinoffs and a brand new Tetris game called Tetris Time Warp. You will get some Tetris games that have never been released outside of Japan before. For example Super Tetris 3, Tetris Battle Gaiden etc.. which are awesome classic games. For those of you who want modern classic Marathon game, its in here. You will find it in Tetris Time Warp. Tetris Time Warp have 3 modes: * Time Warp Score Attack * 3 Min Time Attack * Marathon(which is a pure modern Marathon mode with 15 levels and you can hold Tetrominoes, no time warps or time Tetrominoes.) * Marthon 1989 (Which looks like a classic handheld version with green graphics-pure Marathon version with no Time Tetriminos, you cannot hold Tetrominoes in this mode. This is a old school classic version.) And a Big Thanks to the developers for releasing on GOG and Alexy Pajitnov and Henk Rogers.

Nice Collection, Some Holes Though

This is overall a great experience packaged together, but it has some glaring holes, namely what games are included. This collection assumes you already own the more noteworthy Tetris titles like the Game Boy version, but they still ought to have been included. I know Nintendo would have a stranglehold on it, but its omission is so glaring, considering the videos talk it up so much. I think it's neat the Go game Henk made for Nintendo was included, but why not his RPG, which he called his greatest achievement? Just seems odd. On the surface, Tetris Time Warp looks like a cool idea, especially for the context of this collection. But its "time warp" mechanic felt really shoe-horned in. Its piece always comes in at a set piece count, and the boards it puts you in require some setup to achieve the goal. I feel like it could be snappier and not take you from the experience if it just had you put one or two pieces down to pull it off, but I guess that doesn't feel "Tetris"-ey enough. I do love these series of collections with documantary. And it's great being able to play the original versions of Tetris. The flood of BPS games was a little underwhelming, but it makes sense, and Super Tetris 3 was my favorite of the bunch.
