Tex's still got it

After 16 years Tex is back and he's still got it! Tesla effect comes with an intriguing story, good acting, with a lot of jokes, and intersting puzzles. The puzzles in their magority are inventory based but there are mathimatics-type and combination-type puzzles also. Mathematics puzzles are not my gig but I found the Egyptian puzzles very entertaining. There are 2 dificulty modes, gamer and casual. In casual mode, you can use hints, and skip puzzles but not miss any part of the story-line. Gamer mode is the mode that is meant to be played and is for people who love a challenge without a helping hand. The graphics are not top notch but looks very nice and groovy, and suits well to the game's overall atmosphere. Music is awesome and the intro gave me goosegumps (if you are an old fun of Tex). The game took me about 20-25 hours to finish and hell it's worth it! Time to shave, brush my teeth, and save the world, again... The Pixel Hunter at facebook :)

Good old memories are also short ones

You wanted it? You got it! It's your old Tex, right where you left him, in his flamboyent HD glory. Even the crapy 3D engine just feels like a bit more of nostalgia. The story is great, the acting is great, the humor is great. Only problem? The game is very easy. Really. But still, it's like meeting an old friend, too bas it's so short.

Much more than I could have hoped for!

He's back and better than ever! Beautiful and welcome inhancements all around, and still manages to keep the same old school charm and campy humor that made me fall in love with the series. From the cinematography to the music score, every detail has been improved. Totally enjoying this interactive thrill ride! More! More! More!!!

Charming but way too buggy

I wanted to give it a 4 but it's just too buggy. Here are the problems I've encountered that brings it down from 5 to 3: - Impossible to customize controls, which are hard coded to WASD. Seriously, this would be unforgivable if the game weren't so charming. The weird thing is that the developers obviously know about the existence of other languages, but apparently not that there exist other keyboard layouts, considering that they've chosen to spread out the basic movement keys all over my keyboard. Baffling. - Crashes. So many crashes back to the desktop that you think you're living in the '90s. Especially when traveling with your speeder. - Non-normalized volume for audio assets. Tex's voice is super low sometimes even with max voice volume, and consequently at other times it's too loud. Same thing with music and effects. Assets are unbalanced to the point where I find myself constantly having to adjust all the volume sliders. But that's still not enough since the various assets have been categorized so badly that some can only be adjusted with the general volume slider, thereby adjusting all other sounds! It's just bad, and detracts a lot to immersion. - The brightness setting constantly changes by itself, and every time I launch the game or load a save I have to reset all video settings to default just to get the default brightness back. Ironically the game explicitly recommends the default brightness settings while being unable to actually honor it. Everything else is great. The writing is excellent. Tex's comments are gold as always, especially of anything that hangs on a wall.
