Ok shooter, solid entry in the series.

For me, Terminator: Resistance came out of nowhere. The only reason I know of it's existence was through steam recommendations, so I came here (GOG) to purchase. The Good: The highest praise I give this game is the proper fanfare it injects into the gameplay. No history re-writes, no over the top Hollywood twists, just the future that T1 and T2 alluded to. Not to mention the weapons, their sounds, even some of the locations are recognisable from the films. Everything after T2 in the movie realm has failed to deliver thus far, but Terminator: Resistance nails it. The Bad: The game lacks the polish of modern FPS games with some of the character models and animations a little bit old school (no mocap here folks). I found the gameplay style for the most part reminding me of Rage/Far Cry 3. The AI can be predictable at times, so I'd recommend playing on a hard setting. The resource gathering can be tedious at times also, with many rooms having 20 different items to collect, and searching for the hidden stashes barely made it worth the time spent for me. Overall: All in all Teyon have done a fantastic job with Terminator: Resistance. The story and gameplay were enjoyable and I just wanted to keep playing and progressing further. I would highly recommend this title to any major fans of the first 2 films. Being able to utilise the "phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range", shoot up Terminators and take on Skynet in a future after Judgement Day, makes this a must for any die hard fan. If you have no interest in the series, the gameplay alone will not satisfy you.

One of the best Terminator games

The closest Terminator games have come to having their own Alien: Isolation moment. The gameplay is comparable to an immersive sim. It's about collecting resources, looting locked rooms, finding alternate paths to get where you need to go. The gunplay is solid and you don't have regenerating health so you must use stealth and planning to win battles, especially on harder difficulty modes. There is a simplified skill tree for you to level up. Nothing too fancy just your basic skills like lockpicking, damage buffs, toughness etc. It's semi open world. You can't go anywhere you want but there are some very large areas for you to explore. Presentation is solid. Terminators look great, actually all the enemies look pretty good. Particles, sparks and laser beams are appropriately used. Bots take visible battle damage as you shoot them and lose parts. The world is postapocalyptic which is faithful yet drab to look at. Character models of humans are very weak. They stick out like sore thumbs, some are better than others. Voice acting is also a mixed bag. Here is the thing about the voice acting. Characters in the actual movies have some cheesey dialogue and presentation like Sarah Connor in Dark Fate. In a way it's faithful too in being cheesy here. Not sure if it's intentional or not. The main character in Resistance sounds like guy from a cheesy 90s action movie. It's a weird. It will work for some, not so much others. Final thoughts. Terminator Resistance is a solid game elevated to greatness by how much the player loves the Terminator movies and lore. People with more knowledge and love for this universe will simply get more out of it. For people who don't care about the Terminator movies, be warned. It's wasn't made as a jumping on point and it's probably not going to knock your socks off. (Sidenote for the gog version. At this time, the free Infiltrator dlc is not on this platform. Please do research before making your purchase.)

Worth every penny

I put Terminator: Resistance in a special category of games that are so sublime in their presentation (Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, The Witcher 3) that they elevate the otherwise mundane gameplay. Renditions of iconic music, the crisp sound of plasma fire, recreations of future war sets, and fanservice nods all tie together to form the most faithful adaptation of the franchise since Terminator 2. There's a level of respect here that could only have come from a development team that's passionate about the source material, respect that has not been present in Hollywood for the last decade or so.

Nous incarnons Jacob Rivers, soldat de la résistance contre Skynet. L'histoire se place après le "Jugement Dernier" et apporte des explications aux deux premiers films. FPS avec quelques éléments jeu de rôle, comme des points de compétences, amélioration d'arme, collecte de ressources et craft, qui s'articule toujours autour d'un HUB auquel viennent se greffer missions principales et annexes, sur des cartes semi-ouvertes et couloirs, pour environ 10h de jeu en difficulté maximale (Extrême) très accessible. Les + +Univers fidèle +Fan service +Quelques passages jouissifs +Les 2 dernières missions +Bruitages/thèmes musicaux +Les terminators +Ambiance nocturne +Chargements rapides +Armes plasma Les - -Scénario sans surprise -Technique datant de 2006-2008 -Niveaux de jour parfois moches -Recyclage de maps -Traduction mauvaise -Chutes de frame -Doublages peu convaincants -Abus de piratages/crochetages -Jeu en pause lors des piratages -Des collectables, partout et en permanence -Craft inutile -Des aller/retour très nombreux -Surabondance de munitions/kits de soins -Objectifs redondants et sans grand intérêt -Missions annexes Fedex -Romances ringardes -Ennemis peu variés -Explosifs toujours à côté des ennemis -La "cinématique" de fin... Le fan service tien une place importante (mais mettez les chiens à l'extérieur des refuges !). Si l'on aime l'univers des deux premiers films, le jeu peut être parfois agréable. Sans ceci, c'est assez médiocre. Pouvoir incarner un soldat de la résistance, manier les armes plasma et combattre les terminators procure un certain plaisir, lors de quelques passages, mais globalement le jeu n'arrive pas à aller plus loin. Le background est pourtant riche. Se retrouver dans le conflit est trippant, mais l'ensemble est souvent mou, gameplay comme mise en scène, et techniquement c'est un raté. La direction artistique sauve de justesse le tout. Je vous conseille d'attendre une belle promotion, le prix de lancement est clairement trop élevé. =)

The Best Terminator Game Ever!!!

The game is made for Terminator 1 & 2 fans and has the same atmosphere as these two great movies. So, if you ever wanted to see the Future War with the Skynet and Terminators, you're welcome! Thanks to the game developers, it really is the best Terminator game ever, no doubts! Gameplay is awesome, and so is each particle of the game - the story, characters, voices, sounds and even music - are of the highest rank. Sometimes I just launch the game and listen to the music from the menu, an adapted version of Brad Fiedel's Terminator soundtrack. Also, it is clear, that game developers are fond of their masterpiece, because every particle of the game is 100% from the original Terminator Universe, the game is full of references to T-1 & T-2 theme. I've fully enjoyed the game, once again, thanks a lot to the developers and GOG.com!!!
