System Shock® 2 (1999)

I first played this when it came out back in the 90's, and I remember wondering why it wasn't more "exposed", by which i mean, why wasn't it on a bunch of advertisements, and why weren't people clamboring to buy it, because it's a very very good game. I was about 14 or 15 when i was first playing it so i scared me crapless. 10 years later, no, it doesn't scare me, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to play. Just try and make sure you don't hole yourself up in your room and play it for two days straight like i did.

This game deservers nothing less than 5/5. Imagine it's 1999 and surpasses most modern action rpgs in nearly every way. The game has really nice system of upgrading your character and keeps you searching for more cybernetic modules in EVERY dark corner of the game. You just visit 100% of the game space, just to have more of them. Atmosphere, you can't deny even if it's old, textures, level design and sounds are pretty scary, add to this lack of ammo, medical supplies and constant feeling that somewhere in there could be a hybrid or servobot even if you were there 10 seconds ago and you are focused 100% time. I can't recommend this game more. To those who already played this game and new players alike. This is the true gem and if you play it today, you just forget it's nearly 15 years old already, so excellent its. Lock and load your assault rifle and show the Many who is the real killer is.

This could have been the best game ever, especially in 1998. However, the continual usage of Engineering Level 2 removes this game from any attempt at greatness. Thus $2.50 game, or free, depending on where you look. Never, every, think your game is flawless. This game has the WORST level 2 since Quake 2, and sold appropriately.

I bought this game because it's marked as "Available on Luna" in GOG, but it's not available there (at least in Poland). Only the new, much more expensive remake is available there. Please fix it.

This should be added to the wonders of this world... It is required of anyone who values GOOD video game, to actually play this game. While the graphics are dated, the gameplay offered here is unrivaled! If only more modern games could be as "complex" and fun as SYSTEM SHOCK 2! Many games have many elements contained in System Shock 2.. but no game has them all combined in a cool "spooky" sci-fi setting! A MUST-PLAY!
