System Shock® 2 (1999)

Just got off the back of finishing this game (I know, a little late) as it did pass me by when I was younger which I see now as one of my biggest regrets, this game holds it's own by today's standards of FPS RPG's let alone back in 1999, this must have literally been mind blowing. Few minor points, I did find myself in a couple of situations where my poor choice of upgrades etc left me with little to no options in some situations. Also the ending was a little hit and miss considering the quality of everything that led up to it, however I did read that Ken didn't mean that to be the ending but had to stick with it due to time constraints. (roll on SS3) All in all this game is fantastic and any gamer out there that enjoys sci-fi / action /rpg type games should give this a go.

I was a little hesitant about getting a game that was 15 years old, and I was never a big fan of the first person shooter games, but I grabbed it when GOG had it on sale. All I can say is Holy Crap! This game is awesome! The people renders are a little dated, but when all the bad guys are mutants, this isn't that obvious. The music and atmosphere make the game spooky, and it is very addictive. I was also surprised to find an active community still going for this game, turning out new content and updates almost constantly. I look forward to playing this game for quite a while. Thanks for getting through the legal red tape to make this game available, GOG!

I first played this game back in 2001 when my system was a Pentium 3 850mhz running on Windows XP. I was already a Resident Evil fanboy and into the whole horror genre then. So when I borrowed a copy from a friend and set it up on my machine, I instantly loved the game! The scare factor was intense! And to top it off, the story was so intriguing I kept on playing just to find out what happens next. Just like a good book you can't put down. Definitely one of the best games i ever played. A classic keeper!

The sound engineer for this one should get an "Oscar" of its kind. When played in a good headset, the game literally pulls you into its unique atmosphere of lonely spacecraft, infected with unknown uncompromising enemy lifeform. Not as re-playable as Deus Ex, it still has its place in All-Time-Hall-of-Fame of cyber-punk classics. With no hi-end over-used visual FX, the game makes you shiver and jump out of chair from time to time. An outstanding masterpiece that once again proves - there's no need for tons of models and textures to create something memorable, touching and as close to piece-of-art as gamedev can get.

Awsome game from my childhood, so glad its back. Easier to play through than System Shock. Sucks the company who developed it is gone, would do anything for anybody if they could write a fanfiction for System Shock 3, hell I would pay them! I want to have seen this series come to a close, but not like Mass Effect 3, SPOILER ALERT, where the AI is not your friend...
