System Shock® 2 (1999)

To make this short and sweet, you really need to get this game, if only to experience the best FPS/RPG to ever exist besides Deus Ex. Do it now!

I want to start by saying that Bioshock is my favorite game of all time! That was my first Ken Levine title I played, then I saw System Shock 2 go onto GOG yesterday and I knew I had to get it to at least give it a shot. I am glad I did. After playing Bioshock and now jumping back into the series that kicked it all off I have to say I am impressed deeply. So many little details carried over into the new games from this core experience! The game plays well and it still feels modern after so many years! Great story and a great atmosphere! Only some issues here and there, but those problems can be over looked. The issues being enemy AI and hit detection on the occasion. But still an amazing game! And if you have played the more recent titles you should really give this classic title a go!

Between this game and Outcast, 1999 was a great year in gaming. Two of my all time favorite titles. Thank you GOG for bringing them back from the dead on modern machines!!! This game has never been equaled. The Bioshock series and the Dead Space series try, but do not achieve what System Shock 2 achieves in sci-fi horror. Just pure geniius! Get all the cool mods out there for this game to update its graphics, sound, etc. Now all I need from GOG is another brilliant title from Looking Glass Studios called Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri and I will be a happy man.

Picked this up when I was just a 13 year old kid, still play it once every few years over a decade later. I own the original CD but picked this up because I'm so damn proud of GOG for acquiring it!
