System Shock® 2 (1999)

WARNING: As I reached the Endgame, I found myself being trapped in complete Darkness all the Way down in the Pit where Shodan is supposed to introduce herself to you, Face to Face. Since the Game didn't teleport me into her Boss Room, that's my Endgame now, I guess. [German Version] My biggest Downside is, I'm not scared or creeped out at ALL. I tried to RP that Stuff as much as possible [not being seen etc.], but even if I was horribly failing, Enemies didn't do much. Also, this Game feels and plays like a Shooter. But to about a Quarter of the Game, I was limited to the Wrench. I had Piles of Ammo, two Pistols and a Shotgun this whole Time. All broken. Once repaired, they broke down after 2 Shots again. I didn't even bother collecting any more of these. I nearly stopped playing, instead I cheated to get 2.000 Repair Tools. I still have 1.200 Repair Tools, so having 800 is enough. But zero or 5 at best, that's just plain gamebreaking. I felt like THROWING my broken Pistols at Enemies for so long... So, to sum this up, it didn't scare or creep me at all, and I would have stopped playing it if it wasn't for my Chating. I have to admit, since these two are within the same Category, I'd prefer the newer Dead Space 1 [didn't manage to scare me either, BTW] over this in Terms of Gameplay, since it seems to be heavily inspired by it.

You know what's more awesome than Deus Ex, in my opinion? System Shock 2. It has a well-told story, EXCELLENT rpg mechanics, a spooky atmosphere and a great sci-fi vibe. I can't put this game to words. Just buy it.

Just bought this game on ebay 5 days ago for £25......Grrrrr and have only played the 1st level....but yes this is worth all the hype...its fantastic..... only advise i can give is look for goodies everywhere, and i mean everywhere and restart the game after about an hour of two, after you have started to get an understanding of the game. it will have taught you much by then and you will be able to play the game in the way you really want to.....its a RPG/shooter and you need to discover how you wish to play the game without wasting powerups/ammo

THIS is the Real Horror. SS2 has the most memorizable moments in my Life as a Gamer. I own the Original but now i can start the game without installing any patch. And it works perfect! SS2 is a classic and one of the best games ever made. The german synchronisation is fantastic. The graphics are atmospheric and the replay value is very high. Thanks GOG!

One of those games I will alwys remember. And with each game of this caliber this site is more and more the home of the Good Old Games :) 5/5, not going to delve deep into what the game is or is not (as it can be read below) but I just can not hold myself and I have to say: GOG, REALLY!? REALLY it took THAT long to get us this? Well I can only say one thing to that: Thank you. Now don't sit around, let's better hope Albion will come soon too :)
