Just can't recommend

I desperately want to give future players the green light to purchase this title. First is it is our only Capcom game and my was that it could have been a doorway into an extensive library of PC versions of classics. SFA2 is one of those classics. One of which I have enjoyed in almost every one of it's incarnations. It is heartbreaking to say, but this incarnation has severe performance flaws that no other version I have played has. The game has a frame rate so poor that it is distracting, and game play impairing. At first I thought it was the system I was using, but after 3 systems, multiple reports from others, and a Youtube video that clearly shows a lack of fluidity, it appears that it's just made this way, and there will never come a day we can expect the game to run the way it should. (note: everything works) SFA2 is a fantastic entry in a fantastic series. By all means obtain it in some way, but do it any other way than this version(hurts to say). And if you want to see a 2D fighting game port done right, pick up Guilty Gear right here on GOG.

Good game, alpha conversion

No options about video, no options about controls, and an unplayable key configuration by default, terryble missy and a start button assigned to left stick pushing that jumps every second without intention. This is not the way to fight emulation.

Unplayable

As of now, it is unplayable on my laptop. Only key that works is F9 which exits, and that is it. If it worked 5/5 stars.

Broken x-input .Playable but barely.

I knew coming in this was a bad port, frankly its pretty clear form the majority of the reviews this isnt good, missing animation frames low qaulity sfx and voices. The Xinput support is bad like all direct input only games this one doesnt recognise the D-pad or L2/R2 and maps start to the only controll option you have L3 so trying to play a single match meant constantly accidentally pausing the match. So why did I buy it knowing it was bad coming in? Well i read that the included soundtrack was a hard to find long out of print Jungle remix ep of the alpha 2 soundtrack called "Street Fighter Alpha 2 Underground Mixxes [Da Soundz of Spasm]" this album is great if you like that cheesy capcom jungle vibes they eventually nailed in SF3 3rd strike, but to my dismay it comes in insulting low bit rate mp3 at 128kbps honeslty this soundtrack is almost impossible to get anywhere else but i can help but feel every aspect here was a huge waste of my money. Please GOG if you have access to the spundtrack jungle remix ep in at least 320kbps or FLAC please update the soundtrack files. its this relases only redeeming feature. Back to the game the best way to play street fighter alpha 2 remains the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2 which includes arcade perfect alpha 2 and alpha 2 gold with a couple of bonus modes and convience features not found in the recent Street fighter 30th anniversary colection. But you need a PS2 console for it :/

not sure why the scores are so low

looking at a lot of Capcom games on here they all have terrible reviews and people in the reviews say they are generally unplayable, but this was on sale for so cheap i tried it anyway - it runs fine. im having no problems with it on windows 11 with an nvidia card. not sure why everyone else is having so many problems. the game also uses my xbox controller properly. game works and runs fine for me. if you like Street Fighter then maybe grab it on sale to see if it works for you.
