This is not just multiplayer only
Not sure why other reviews are stating this is 'multiplayer only' if it does indeed include Balance of Power (as shown on on the product thumbnail), which is actually the single player campaign with both Rebel and Empire factions playable. It's a great campaign, a great story and easily the pinnacle of the 'X-wing' series.

Better than X-wing Alliance
Reasons I prefer it... - Co-op multiplayer: X-Wing Alliance only has limited multiplayer modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, and racing). X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (XvT) has full cooperative campaigns against the AI and other players. - The combat mechanics are a bit closer to the classic X-Wing and Tie-Fighter. In particular, the game lacks weapon convergence seen in X-Wing Alliance, collisions are more lethal, and AI craft are able to engage capital ships effectively (In XWA the only way to engage a capital ship was by firing weapons without a lock - something the AI couldn't do). - Super-Ace enemy AI. There is a special AI script which reacts to your gunsight. This means there is a rare AI which is actually challenging for the player. - It has campaigns for the Imperials as well as the Rebel Alliance ...That said: Get X-Wing Alliance to... It has the battle of Endor and the ability to fly transports Get the original Tie Fighter... It has a truly classic 'white knuckled' campaign and is the greatest member of the series in some respects

A Place to play
This is a GREAT GAME! i can't tell you how many hours of dog fights i have played untill i brok the cd and vista stopped supporting it. There is a place to go for multiplayer matchs. A still thriving community of players on www.darkjedi.org. two clubs TRA and TFA have monthly wars and events. we even have mods with new levels and ships! TONS of fun! I cant wait to start playing again

Addon website for XVT models included
I still own these on working CD versions from Totally Games so I am not reviewing this version. I have always been more of a fan of XVT than XWA because of the military ranking system, although flying the freighters in XWA is a plus. However for everyone who would like to upgrade the 3d models ingame with crispier versions should look here: http://www.xvtedicion.es/basededatos/ingles/index.htm Clicking 'opt database' and then 'vehicles' and then 'BOP' (balance of power) will give you the option of downloading files to upgrade the ingame 3d models to better looking ones. They come with screenshots so you can see what you get. This is a cool game and a gem on its own. For those who want to wander further into this: Get Troy Dangerfield's mission editor for this game in the 'programs' section under downloads of the same website. And finally if you have both xvt and xwa, and you want to import your models from the xwa engine into xvt that is possible too. Use Optech to achieve this. Also downloadable from the same website. How to wreck a perfectly good joystick
This is pure childhood nostalgia. Don't know how much I played it but I play it a hell of a lot, I played it so much that I wrecked 2 perfectly good Logitech Wingman Extreme joysticks on it. And I think that that says all Time to dust off that old joystick you still have lying around and go head on in a 4 vs 4 deathmatch, which was my favourite thing to do in this game :)
