STAR WARS™: X-Wing Special Edition

GOG staff comment: The 1994 DOS CD version is now included as of 28.04.2015. Just as awesome as I remember it from 20+ years ago, however I have to agree that the 1994 Collector's CD-ROM version should have been included instead of the inferior 1998 remake. If you're going to go though the effort, go all out. Despite that, it's wonderful to see this game as a digital download and it's well worth the purchase price for the original DOS version alone.

i grew up with the 70's movies & played the early version in the 90's, as i remember it was not that easy around the huge battle ships & their swadrons; fun fact : i have just the 3 movies from the 70's on dvd but not the episodes '1 2 3' from the 2000's, ain't catching me somehow enough

You must get this. Not only does it allow you to purposely simulate what it's like to fly an X-Wing, the story is fantastic. The missions are challenging. Even the TRAINING is challenging but a pleasurable experience. You have to fly through a bunch of rings and it's made abundantly clear, this game is meant for those who enjoy these space sim games to the highest magnitude. This does not, however, discourage newcomers from enjoying the game. In fact, it will give you a deeper appreciation for LucasArts and their game design team. Cheers and may The Force be with you.

When GoG announced new pubisher, I hoped it will be Lucasarts, well, wish-ef'n-granted! As for the X-Wing game, it is great and a must have. Only thing better is Tie Fighter, also on GoG now, it's like it's Christmas in advance :)

Now can we please get X-Wing Alliance... it was a late comer but one of the best in my opinion. I want to fly the Falcon again.
