Unrivaled Starfighter combat

This is, without a doubt, the best starfighter combat in all of Star Wars. It is also a pretty good space fighter combat sim. It has a good story, with an A plot, and a B plot. There is a sort of Build your own scenario creator within the game, for more fun. The controls require you to pay attention, but are not too troublesome. You begin as a small time shipper, before joining the Alliance. The story flows very well and the difficulty levels flow very well and there are some very memorable missions. If you enjoy any sort of flight game, or Star Wars, I urge you to pick this up! I actually pre-ordered this game back when it very first came out and I still enjoy it to this day.

Works great on Win7 x64!

I'm happy to report that this game works perfectly on Win7 x64! I've had this game on CD since it came out, but it's been years since I've been able to play it. Yes there have been some fan patches to make it playable but psh. This GoG version is amazing! I haven't tried LAN multiplayer yet (still trying to talk my daughter into playing with me) but I've done several campaign missions and everything is just like I remember. Clean fonts, no flashing textures or funky HUD issues, it's just like being back in the 90's again. Wonderful! It's a difficult game, even on Easy. You have to pay attention and sometimes you're put into no-win situations where you're just supposed to run away. You start out working with a lot of cargo, scanning it, shooting it, picking it up, delivering it, but pretty soon the Imperials start showing up and it's all out war. Tie Fighters, Tie Bombers, Star Destroyers, and Gunboats everywhere. Oh yeah, good times, good times. This is the one to get, the definitive X-Wing experience.

Flying X-WIngs for real...

AAAh XWA... one of my first PC Games brought back to life. Im playing on a 90" projector and I'm loving it. Add a bit of a mod and its playing at 1920 x 1080 in widescreen. Its like Im flying the thing for real... I'm using an Xbox360 controller for windows, and its easy to map the buttons you need, but could still use another 10 buttons! A great game, a good story, excellent gameplay and controls.

One of the best space simulators ever

This gem was one of the titles that awoke my love for Star Wars back in the nineties. It is fun, deep, challenging and tells a great story aronud the galactic civil war. It is, in my personal opinion, one of the best Space battle simulators to this day. And far better than rouge quadron or the space-battle part of Battlefront 2.

Star Wars X-Wing Alliance

Great Game!!! Complete and still entertaining if a little bit dated. My old copy of the game hasn't run for years I'm so happy to have found it again. If your looking for an excellent Space Sim for Star Wars, Look No Further. In this day and age of Monetization it's good to know GOG is around to provide Great Games, DRM Free just like the Good Old Days.
