Simply One Of The Best RGPs Ever!
I've been playing cRPGs and RPGs on PC since Ulitma I in 1981 and before that, the classic table top top games. I loved this game so much when I got it on the Xbox in the summer of 2003, that I bought the PC version in November of that same year. I still play this game from time to time and still always find it so awesome that I finish it every time. This is Bioware when it was at it best and Drew Karpyshyn is one of the best writers in gaming Sci-Fi there is (note Mass Effect). Like the way I insist RGPs be for my personal tastes, that my choices and what I do in the game have effects on my character, my companions and other NPCs and most importantly, the storyline, this game meets those criteria and then some. The combat mechanics, the choice of customization, weapons, sound effects and the Force powers/abilities are so Star Wars. The story is incredible and how you bend to the Dark or the Light side can have an immense effect on the game's ending. KOTOR 2 was awesome as with a great story, andI think it's combat was a bit better and the influence system was to die for, but it's ending was a bit of a let down, my opinion of course; KoTOR still holds sway over KoTOR2. If your a Star Wars fan, this is a must have game. If your an avid RPG gamer and are not into Sci-Fi type games, I honestly think this game will change your mind about Sci-Fi RPGs. Yes, the graphics are 2003, but there are some cool mods out be gotten. But when you play this game and experience the style of play, voice acting, the classic Star Wars sound effects and weapons, the characters and their back-stories, you'll forget about the need for eye candy. I've literally played hundreds of RPGs of varying kinds, and this game is still in my top 10 all time.
