Probably the best Star Wars game

After this game, the Star Wars franchise became obsessed with 3rd person perspective. If you want a FPS, then this is the last in a great line. Widescreen: FOV INI edit: Go to --> Star Wars Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast\GameData\base and create a new text file called autoexec.cfg seta r_customheight "1440" <-- your resolution height seta r_customwidth "2560" <---- your resolution width seta r_mode "-1" <--------------------- necessary for custom resolution seta cg_fov "96.4" <------------------ can be changed to any value Weapon FOVHEX edit: Go to --> Star Wars Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast\GameData\jk2gamex86.dll Go to OFFSET 107480 and look for 00 00 A0 42 and change it to 00 00 FF 43 (this will break the wrong calculation of the Weapon SIZE and FOV) I have the File in the Attachments: Jedi.Outcast - correct Weapon FOV.7z Ultra/Super-Wide (21:9/32:9) Specific Solution & Issues Same as WS solution above. Create a autoexec.cfg and add this Lines in it: seta r_customheight "1440" <-- your resolution height seta r_customwidth "3440" <---- your resolution width seta r_mode "-1" <---------------------- necessary for custom resolution seta cg_fov "112.7" <----------------- can be changed to any value Hex edit the Weapon FOV like above or use the Attachment. Linux: For Linux users, I got some notes as I couldn't get this one running for some reason. I found a solution for NVidia users: Configure the game -> System Tab -> Env variables add the following as written: Key: __GL_ExtensionStringVersion Value: 17700 AMD / Intel users can try the following: Key: MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR Value: 2003

Somewhat disappointing after DF2

A Star Wars shooter in a brand new engine (Quake 3) with the familiar protagonist. Only, I can't help the feeling that the previous game's engine felt sharper, and this one just feels plastic. Furthermore, the level design is terrible. For the first few chapters you have no Jedi powers or lightsaber, and the gunplay isn't very satisfying. Once you do get your trademark Jedi weapon and powers, the subsequent level forces you to switch back to guns because of very distant enemies with unblockable attacks. Snipers that rarely miss and bombers that throw thermal detonators like confetti will frustrate you to no end, as will the abundance of jumping puzzles. Throughout the game I didn't feel the charm of Dark Forces II or the mysterious spookiness of the Sith temple from its expansion; it's just one cargo hold after another. The only highlight would be Bespin. The story is serviceable, but could've been more memorable had they stuck with FMV. The stuff that truly shines are lightsaber duels, and you'll have plenty of them, both against nameless mooks and powerful bosses. But for me, not enough to justify buying this game with all its flaws.

Best Star Wars game

This is, in my opinion, the best Star Wars game you can find (Yes, even better than KOTOR). Because of the engine, the game has aged very well, the game itself has a super story even worthy of an RPG's, the combat is fluid and somewhat tactical, the puzzles and pacing of the game is also spot on.

Expanded Universe Come to Life

Have you ever wanted to experience Star Wars from the point of view of the old expanded universe? Have you ever wanted to blast storm troopers and alien thugs, cut them down with a light saber, use the force to push people over ledges or suspend them in the air with a force choke? Have you ever wanted to invade imperial installations and star destroyers while dueling with dark jedis? If so, this may just be the game for you! Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first: On several occasions the level design in this game is so abysmal I think Marka Ragnos himself had a hand in it. Don't get me wrong, the levels are very atmospheric and really let you feel like you are in the Star Wars universe and they're pleasently large to explore. However, the game often gives you only the vaguest of clues as to where your mission objectives are located and no indication as to what they look like. This leads you to accidentally running past them obliviously, especially when you have to break video game conventions to reach them. Just check a walktrhough when you're stuck though, and it's alright. The plot isn't all that great either but it's what you'd see in a Star Wars comic or a book: Some guy strong in the Force is evil and mean, aligned with the Imperial Remnant, hurts people the protagonist cares about and has an unlikely plan of doom that slowly unfolds before you as you follow the protagonist through familiar and unfamiliar worlds. Still, it carries the narrative forward and gives you an excuse to get to the meat of the game: The action! Action in Jedi Outcast is second only to Jedi Academy in emulating what doing battle with a light saber and Force powers is all about. You don't get a feel for it from images or even videos, but it's awesome fun. Better than any of the newer titles have managed in my opinion, particularly as the light sabers are as deadly as they're supposed to be: One proper cut and you're dead. If you dream of a light SW adventures, get this game!

A Hardcore Blast from the Past

If you want to feel like a jedi, there's no substitute. Grab your lightsaber, go into 1-st person view and go hack some stormtroopers. The game is Old school. It starts off hardcore, and never lets up. It's a game as much about thinking as it is about carefully planning your attack and letting 'em reborn have it. This is a game of skill, wit and keyboard acrobatics. It's infinitely replayable and serious fun.
