Star Wars™ Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II inclut Star Wars™ Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II et Star Wars™ Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith.
Mysteries of the Sith
No game in history captured the Star Wars feel better than this, of course except for the X-Wing series.
I would say the X-Wing series was the space combat while this was the Jedi and ground experience.
The graphics have not aged well, but the gameplay is legendary. It is a mixture of shooter and action rpg. You talk to people through your mission, which are mostly pretty open to find your path to the objective. As you progress through the game you get force points to allocate to either light side or dark side force powers. You learn to use the saber and the force powers and become a full jedi by the end of the game.
Everything you do in the game determines your alignment, from choosing light or dark force powers to force choking a bystander.
This is a classic game, still a ton of fun. It is well worth the price and is mandatory for any true Star Wars fan!
i remember the demo of this game, played it many many times on my Win 95, before i upgrade my computer, the game does work fine on Win 7,8,10 32x System. but after i decided to to upgrade it to Win 10 64x the game constantly crashes when i start the game after the main menu. a played bit with the main settings after few times, and when i start playing you see graphical glitches from hell around black background. i knew the game is struggling to run.
there are couple of good solutions online but after trying few of them out, only found one of them worked perfectly for me:
there's a guide from some JK fan-site called "http://www.thekinsie.com/words/jediknight/"
it requires you to download 'dgVoodoo2' to run it. this program is a life saver, not only makes the game work perfectly on modern pc's, but you can also adjust the resolution to 1920x1080 and it runs great.
"Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II" is miles better then it's OK predecessor "Dark Forces", highly recommended! my second favorite game in the "Jedi Knight/Dark Forces" series.
2020 UPDATE Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 Remastered!!! Almost like a new game!
If your going to play Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 or its standalone expansion Star Wars Dark Forces 2: Mysteries Of The Sith, then go here and install this patch its quick and easy to set up, has a guide for it and everything. And you'll be able to play it better looking than its ever been before, should be official! Cannot recommend it enough!!

Review:
This is one of my all time favourite games which I feel captured the spirit of Star Wars with the continuing adventures of Kyle Katarn. After single-handedly stealing the Death Star plans and putting and end to the Dark Trooper program in Star Wars Dark Forces. Kyle now is pitted off against a group of Dark Jedi and must reclaim is Jedi heritage to defeat them one by one, With live action cut scenes although now dated, massive levels and all you can imagine from a First Person Shooter. Multiplayer was awesome on this back in the day as well!! Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight has it all. Definitely you should check it out if your a fan of the sequels such as Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast or Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy!
There is just something about this game... I saved for half a year to buy a new graphics card for our Pentium 300 just to play this game, learned to program at age 11 to mod it, and finally released my mods on my 18th birthday.
You still have a live community at the Massassi Temple (https://www.massassi.net/) where you can have it all, including the Jedi Knight Enhanced mod, and HUNDREDS of mods for this game. And again, still alive!
Other than Doom and perhaps a few others, no other game has THIS kind of community.
Also: this is the only game in my LIFE that has ever induced vertigo. I'm not kidding. And the levels will take you an hour or more to get through. EACH.
There are multiple paths, two endings, and you get Force Points for discovering secrets.
TIP: The first tiers are blue, "neutral" powers. Then there are green (Light Force) and red (Dark Force) powers.
If you pick ONLY GREEN or ONLY RED powers, then a fifth "secret" power of Master Jedi or Master Sith will be unlocked. Whether it's worth it is debatable, though. Light is "Force Protection", which grants temporary invulnerability to everything except falling or being thrown into objects. Dark is "Deadly Sight" which continuously damages everything in your line of sight.
You can also mix-and-match, which is the beauty of JKDF2. The protagonist, Kyle Katarn, isn't a preachy old dude - he feels "real". The Force to him is just a tool, for good or evil, like a really powerful matchstick.
If you love Stars Wars, but hate the drivel of "midichlorians" and feeling as powerless to determine destiny as dumb ol' Anakin, go old school and find the goodness of JKDF2!
P.S. No Gungans in this game. And you beat Boba Fett in the LAST game, Dark Forces, so... "This is the way"!
P.P.S. There are old school cheat codes. Type T, the code, then Enter.
Jediwannabe 1 - invulnerable except to fast impact/falling
Red5 - All weapons
Raccoonking - All powers
yodajammies - Mana
deeznuts - Level skip
Love it or hate it, Jedi Knight was a very unique game back when it was released. It didn't follow the trend of fast paced shooters, but offered a real storyline instead and puzzles within an 3d environment.
Compared to Quake the graphics were slightly worse, but the engine was designed for a different purpose, for large levels, while Quake was made for small environments.
Before I saw a demo of this game on a Voodoo, I thought my Elsa Victory 3D was enough for 3D and software rendering was better anyway ... a month later I owned one of these 3Dfx babies.
The GOG version runs fine, the CD soundtrack was replaced with music files. Some graphic modes from back then don't work anymore however, it's best to use dgVoodoo2 or a similar software to emulate the graphic card.
The GOG bundle also includes Mysteries of the Sith, a standalone expansion, which sadly was released with only low res sounds and instead of fmv cutscenes the ingame engine was used to prerender them - which in my eyes was also a bad decision, since the video compression really sucks. It would have been better to run the cut scenes completely ingame. The game itself however is good, it was also one of the first - if not THE first - 3D shooter to support colored lights.
