Star Control I & II

I owned Star Control 1 on the SEGA and remember playing that game since I was about 5 years old. Spent years playing that and a few years ago played Star Control 2 for the first time. I loved the game so much that I bought a 3DO system just to play it on a console. The only thing you will regret about playing this game is the fact that newer games fail to step up to the plate to match the gameplay that these classics had. If you enjoy games that are fun, engaging, and a great story (SC2)...give a true good old game a try, you will soon reply with another 5/5 review.

I never played this before until GOG and Star Control 2 is a very immersive enjoyable game. The spathi are hilarious.

These games are supremely brilliant, creative, meaningful, and epic in scale and in story. However, if all you enjoyed from this one-of-a-kind game was the soundtrack you'd still feel like the price you paid was a bargain.

Hilarious, fun, and based on the first computer game ever made.

You might think this is an overstatement, but truth is that Star Control 2 is a underrated gem, and one of the best space adventures known to man. Star Control 1 is ok, and it gets the game mechanics going on quite nicely, but if you're playing it just for the melee, then go straight to Star Control 2. What Star Control 1 have that the sequel doesn't is a nice strategy game, that if you can get past the awkwardness of the pseudo 3D map, turns out to be quite enjoyable. Other than that, Star Control 2 is a much better game, and as you might have already noticed my all time favorite. This game oozes atmosphere, and the story is very well written. Besides, the gameplay is also quite engaging and fun. If you dont care about the story, then just gather some friends and Super Melee is guaranteed to give you hours of mindless fun! Please note that as others have stated, Star Control 2 is available freely under the name "The Ur-Quan Masters" and it is a better version than the original PC one, but just because GOG took the risk of releasing it nevertheless, they deserve my gratitude and the 6 bucks. If "The Ur-Quan Masters" was bundled with this pack... it would just be the perfect pack.
