Arguably the best survival experience
I've been playing this game on and off for about 5 years. The zero to hero grind is essentially what kept me engaged in this immersive world. Every ounce of progress is meaningful and requires a significant amount of effort and it just feels amazing when you are finally dominating the region you are in. If you really like the STALKER franchise and wants to re-explore the Zone and if you like hardcore tactical shooters like Tarkov, this game is for you. And hey its free, can't get any better than that especially nowadays... My only issue with this game is that its not really potato friendly, at least unless you are willing to lower the graphics by a lot (and by that I mean playing in DX9).

A thoughtfully crafted, meaningful pack.
I have around 500 hours in Gamma on the pre-gog version. This is easily one of the best stalker modpacks, if not modpacks in general. It really sets a standard where quantity and quality are both met in equal measure. It's crazy that this pack is being made and maintained by one dude for free, with the contributions of an entire community of course. New mechanics and content are added in healthy amounts while at the same time being tuned for a balanced, paced playthrough. I never felt like a mechanic was thrown in for the hell of it, engaging with the repair and medical systems for example helped immerse me in the stalker experience. Progression in general is very well done. I found that finding and maintaining equipment is much more meaningful since not every problem is solved with money, and that progress is more slowly paced than other stalker experiences. The pack also looks much better than its vanilla anomaly counterpart, and arguably the original trilogy. The new shading and lighting mods are up to date and much better than previous iterations of the pack. I also feel that the game is not that hardcore, at least if you prepare for the journey ahead. These latest versions have tutorials for all the new and overhauled systems. The daunting medical system starts to feel more intuitive when you realize all you're doing is building up temporary hp to convert into permanent hp. The new tools system is easier to digest when you realize you can find everything you need in stashes. All these new systems and the overhauled A-life lead to a much more immersive open world than many AAA titles. The pack is also quite malleable if you don't happen to like specific systems, mods, or mechanics. one of the Ms in Gamma stands for Modular. You will find decent support in the stalker gamma discord server, barring some channels which I don't like.

Stalker Gamma is peak survival game
Ever wanted a Survival game that doesn't hold you hand and is an actual challenge to survive and thrive than this game is for you. Stalker Gamma is by far one of the best ways to play stalker but it wont be easy. I like to describe this game to people as the dark souls of survival games so keep that in mind with how hard it is. But let me tell you this is one of the most atmospheric games i have ever played truly keeps you in the world your in. Grok is an amazing dev working on this modpack and is always coming out with great updates recommend joining the discord server to see whats going on with the updates. There is a ton of different main story quest and other factions to play and even in your first play through there will be plenty more for you to do and with the ability to add more mods on top of gamma its truly one of the most repayable games i have played personally have done 4 play through on this game each different factions. Honestly wont spoil to much of the game cause its meant to be played blind so go in and have fun there is a tutorial system in the game now that explains the mechanics that arent as easy to understand without an explanation so read those very important you do. I love Gamma and Anomaly, seeing this mod here encouraged me to buy other franchises from GOG! I hope for more Stalker mods in the future!
