I replay this now and then
I remember when this first came out. It sounded great. After playing for a bit and seeing a review it (way back when it was first out) it felt like more of a grid then fun. The good points: You can make a monster/alien look like anything you like (from a list of parts). What you eat (fruit/meat or both) will be used for how you take over a city and the idealism of you're people as you move on. you can make them a herbivore (eat fruit), Carnivore (kill to eat) or Omnivore (eat some fruit and kill a tribe to eat) Later you can make a kind of outfit for them (hats, backpacks, mustache and a few other things from a list) You can make Homes, factory's and places to have fun (from a big list) and cars, boats, airplanes to take over other city's. You take over city's by Religion, Battle or Trade (buying them out) and as you take over a city that has a different way of life you will be asked if you'd like to swap to it. Last thing you can make is a ship and fly around collecting spice, artifacts, terraforming items and trading with alien's. The Bad points: You have to hunt down the other parts. and don't get enough DNA points to put most of what you find on you're alien. You have to be fast if you are looking to be peaceful with other tribes or else you will lose a tribe member or 2 before you can start to talk peace (play the right instrument for them). When can have a harder time keeping all the city's you own safe and still take over the last few before you can pay for the world dominating skill before you take over. Once you get into space you can't go far for fear of space pirates. Plus you need fuel so you need to have a lot of items (like spice) ready to trade to get the money to get the fuel. Galactic Adventures adds a little more to it (pushing it up to 3 stars) and make it a little more fun BUT it's still a a bit of a grind to keep people happy
