Dropping out of hyperspace, you lay a course for Lagrange Station. Suddenly, the klaxon screams out a warning. Two Darts and a Corsair, closing fast. Pirates!
You roll hard to avoid the incoming plasma torps. One hits, knocking down your rear shield. Spinning to protect your stern, you launch a heat seeker...
Direct hit: the Corsair bursts into shards. Stunned, the Darts run for deep space.
Later, over a pint of Rigelian in the Lagrange cantina, you listen as a bounty hunter tells of the Scarlet Brotherhood, the most notorious band of pirates in the Far Arm. You hope it wasn't one of their Corsairs you vaporized out there ...
Inspired Space Flight Simulation!
Trek through an astonishingly realistic universe with outposts and mining stations, planets and asteroids, stars and starships - all in spectacular 3D graphics.
Watch combat from cockpit, chase plane, or cinematic camera angles.
Engage cunning foes in heated dogfights, where you'll have to outgun and outsmart your opponents to taste victory.
Outfit your ship with plasma torpedoes, plasteel armor, particle beams, missiles, force shields, ECM units and more.
Execute loops, rolls, and spins. Feel the tug of gravity as you whip around a star. Authentic spaceflight dynamics push your piloting skills to the limit.
Intense Role-Playing Adventure!
Make a fortune - and a name - trading cargo, bounty hunting, or plundering merchant ships. Every action you take affects your reputation, and who calls you friend or foe.
Meet and converse with the inhabitants of the Far Arm: Imperial troopers, merchant princes, talkative robots, and treacherous pirates.
Shop for starship hardware, do favors for aliens, carouse in bars - even play HIVE!, the galaxy's hottest arcade game.
You will be drawn into a web of intrigue; secret plots, assassination attempts, intergalactic war. Ultimately, the destiny of billions will hinge on your deeds.

My first game ever, played on my first computer ever! I have so many fond memories of this game. Exploring all sectors, improving my combat skills (to the point not even Titans were an issue), and eventually figuring out the mystery.
Now if only there was something modern like this. I'd play the hell out of it. Unfortunately, there a several space combat sims/RPG's out there, but they're just too complex.
Back then I had an Apple 2 and i dreamt about Ultima V and Space Rogue, both Origin titles of the time.
I got Ultima V for my 11th birthday and wasn't disappointed but I never got the chance to play Space Rogue.
Years later, emulation and GoG made it possible for me to complete the game and I must say that in spite of a great story and contexte (the boxed game literally came with a book and a star chart if I'm correct), it left me disappointed:
-it is quite linear
-you need to buy item 'x' or 'y' to move forward most of the time
-not too many interactions and NPCs (think about the way ultima's characters sucked you in, you won't have that here)
-Newtonian physics and fights could have been quite impressive at the time but not so much nowadays
-it is quite short and the universe left at your disposal feels quite empty
-due to its hybrid nature (half a space sim during flights and half top down view during space station exploration), the game doesn't excel anywhere
So in a nutshell, not a bad game, quite charming but not very good either. The pixel graphics are loveable (if a little sparse) but the mix of space flight and space station exploration lacks the complexity of better games of the same era (Sundog, Elite and some others I might forget).
Owned the original diskette version for the C64 back in the days, never finished it due issues with my drive... But had hours of fun, enough so that first sought the PC version out as abandonware and have now forked over money to GoG as well. They deserve it!
The game is a somewhat simplistic space adventure with light simulation elements. The amount of ships is limited, plot is short... But it is still a mostly enjoyable experience, even if the Bassruti station part can get a bit frustrating. Also, highly recommend reading the in-universe game manual, the novelette and looking at the star maps. While PDF:s don't quite provide the feeling of having the actual physical thing in your hands, this is the sort of extra I like having for RPG/adventure games. =)
Was too young to enjoy this game on its release. But a pretty interesting adventure game with i suppose revolutionary space battle segments.
There is limited sound, and no music so it would pay to have some streaming backgound music playing in the background while you play.
I recommend printing out the reference card and read over the instructions before playing to get the hang of travel.
Recommended!
I loved this game as a kid, but as of this moment, the game is still 32-bit, so will not run on Macs with an OS released after 2020. They really should update the requirements to warn you of this in the store.
So you'll need to either wait for a 64-bit update (you'll be waiting awhile), use Boot Camp, or search for a C64 version online somewhere you can play in an emulator.
