Best Adventure Games Ever Made

Space Quest was an instrumental part of my upbringing. I literally learned to type playing these games. The universe created by Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy has stuck with me in the many years since. Space Quest blends humor, sci-fi, and classic adventure game mechanics to deliver an incredibly fun and rich experience. Drawing from classic science fiction tropes, Space Quest delivers a world of space-aged adventuring with a humble twist. Playing as janitor Roger Wilco, you're thrust into a world of aliens, space conflict, backwater bars, asteroid fortresses, fast food space stations, and more. SQ2 and SQ3 are my favorite of the series and playing them back-to-back provides a super fun story transition. These games stoked my imagination more than any other video game before or since. Don't let the "antiquated" graphics hold you back-- the pixel art is actually beautiful and the gameplay stands up today. I can't recommend this series enough.

Interstellar!

Waking up in a broom closet is one thing. The sudden realization once you leave the closet that you're a defenseless janitor surrounded by invading parties on a starship about to blow up is quite another. Welcome to the wonderfully wacky world of Roger Wilco. Space Quest has stood as one of Sierra's most endearing and popular series from start to finish. Starting off in the shoes of your ordinary space janitor and ending up as savior of the universe (well, okay, not always) would require excellent storytelling and compelling gameplay. Fortunately, the first three games have all of these in spades, and then some. Also of note are the nice (if slightly frustrating) mini-games, the in-joke references to various science fiction works, and ending with the feeling that being a space janitor is actually quite a risky business. These games are a good foundation for what comes after (namely, the brilliantly-done Space Quest IV), and deserve every bit of your gaming buckazoid.

The Original Trilogy in all their glory!

I still enjoy playing the Space Quest series. But mostly the first three. I'm happy I now have the games thanks to GOG. Plenty of humor. Thanks!

Une première trilogie fondatrice

3 excellents épisodes (en particulier le 3ème) avec des histoires passionantes via leur humour, leurs réfrences et bien sur l'inoubliable récureur de toilettes intergalactique, Roger WIlco.

Amusing piece of nostalgia

For those of us that remember playing this back in the day, it's worth playing for the memories. I'm not sure anyone else would get much out of it. Obviously the graphics are very basic, as is the interface and the gameplay is unforgiving and sometimes just random (eg killing you if you buy the wrong spaceship or walk the wrong onto the wrong screen). I definitely wouldn't pay full price for this, wait 'til it's on special and enjoy a step back in time (or remember why you got so annoyed by it the first time).
