Just like the old days...

Loved that game back in 2k and didn't touch it for >20yrs since... and its still great. Of course its outdated (don't you say lol) but a lot of stuff I didn't even remember I found amazing - for example the option to use flashbangs, a feature that I always associated with COD as the first "mainstream-FPS" to use that. I will not call it realistic (its far from that) but yet now I see many details I guess the real John Mullins (a real merc/military advisor that assisted the developers) brought to the table. They made it a fast-paced gory shooter with some very nice deails that I can appreciate today but that were lost on me back then as a kid. Sidenote: I'm actually doing security contracting work in Iraq at the moment I write this, making the whole situation sort of funny. ;-)

Confusing and jank, but fun (with patch)

It's a good game, absolutely. But the crouching is VERY janky, the weapon swap animations are very slow and likely to get you killed on higher difficulties, the grenades don't follow a satisfying or predictable arc, the levels can sometimes be confusing on where you're meant to go, and you'll find yourself going multiple levels at a time mainly just using one singular weapon because it's the only one getting ammo. But, the combat is nice and chunky, when the game works it's a fantastic power fantasy, and I enjoy the characters, they're not the deepest and some are borderline cartoonish, but they serve their role well.

Great shooting, Dumbest story

this has nothing to do with more grounded military shooters of 2'000s (thank you operation flashpoint for spawning that filth) this is just quake 2 with contemporary looks and ghoul system (disection of enemies by where they are hit / shot/ slashed). It is best being thought of as an action movie type deal - it makes no sense but thats its strenght. Sure tehre are drawbacks, some more modern audiences might dislike the graphics, i did get caught few times by strange level dessign choices but the most important thing: the gunplay is absolutley fantastic. If your tolerance for shooters of mid 90s is high raven is always good bet to satisfy (well was, than) . + Gunplay, + Ghoul + general action feel of movement and firefights - absolutley ridiculously stupid story - archaic by modern standards map design - some minute bugs (doors, edges of surfaces) - horrifyingly jingoistic (TL;DR) should you get it? fk yea! gun is good! story is bad

G.I. Rambo

This feels like 1980s action movie. The gameplay is sold and guns and blazing. The graphics was OK, Quake II engine that understand. It didnt age that good, but it a bad ass game and it a must play. Every fps should play this game.

IT WORKS ON WIN 10
