SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

You don't get much better than an original sim city, especially SimCity 2000, this game has made the basis for all the simCity's to follow, and have made the world of developing a old to new society a epic challenge from when you first start off with your first 50,000 to your big bucks. Just like most economic games it about how you can improve life, economy, and safety of your city and still make a profit. While not as great as SimCity 3000 or 4. This game still has a cutting edge difficulty that keeps you hooked. And crashes far less then its older brothers.

I first played SimCity 2000 in the 4th grade (1999); it's such a smart game, it was used as an educational tool for us kids to learn basic management and problem-solving skills. Almost 13 years later, and I still find myself sucked into this city-building masterpiece. If you've never played this before, you absolutely must!

For me Sim City 2000 is the best Sim City of the series. So I was surprised that I can buy it here, working on new systems. I hope GOG will also release Sim Copter very soon, that I can build citys with Sim City 2000 and fly through them with Sim Copter.

I remember firing this up years ago, and enjoying myself to the fullest after that I lost my copy and didn't play for ages, but I've always remembered how much fun I had in the short time I did play the game. The simple concept brings out something in you that just makes you love running that city (and destroying it with a giant enemy robot at the end). It's still as awesome as I remember and it's worth another look.

Despite successive iterations and newfangled doodads, including the now upcoming new "Simcity" by EA, SimCity 2000, or SC2K to its fans, is hands down, the best SimCity version in existence. Blending the perfect match of detail from issues such as pollution, crime, education levels etc. without bogging down players with too many details, it was one of the first games I cut my teeth on on the PC when I was still a child. I didn't even know what I was doing, or why I wasn't making any money. But that didn't matter back then. And when I finally returned to it years later with a better grasp of its mechanics, the first city that began to flourish would be remembered forever by me. I still have the save file for it on my portable backup drives, alongside an age-old CD copy of the full game in its box (Complete with the goofy UFO cover) Other SimCities might look prettier. They may even one day, be able to do "ZZTT!" power sounds better. But they're not SC2K. And they're not the best.
