Controls ruins it for me

Nice graphics, and game has idea for itself. I like inventory concept, all skill trees and so on. But the controls are messed up. So messed up, that it is barely playable for me. Want to throw some healing on yourself? Good bloody luck if you had selected some offensive skill. Wan't to select different enemy to be pulped by your hero? Yeah, only when they are not too close. Combat feels like turn-based, but you have to select everything in real time, but there is no indicator on cooldowns or anything, just very long animations... On Windows 10 additionally you can see a graphical glitch here and there, but nothing really serious. If it goes to lore and so on, it might be good - i just haven't cared for it, because I was frustrated by control and game responsiveness (those bloody long animations). Solid 3+, and if you believe other reviews, may be 4 if take story into account.

Forgotten Diamond in the Rough

The only major issue I found with this game was the pathfinding. You will get stuck and blocked on the extravagant decorations, swooping landscapes, and GIGANTIC enemies. Luckily you can save often and move the camera wherever you'd like. This is a classic action roleplaying game with the wiggle-room of Diablo that doesn't have classes so much as choices (use what abilities you want, improve what you want, pick up and specialize in what you'd like). The graphics are crisp and charming and you can turn off the distracting black borders they tried to use for a cartoon effect if you'd like. Lots of loot, very pretty animations, fun characters (I like the troll yawning when at rest) lots of voice acting, lots of enemy variety. The entire world is basically open from the beginning so you can overload yourself with quests, wander too far into high level territory, or just ignore your stats and skills and get trounced fairly easily, but the game is yours to explore and tackle at your leisure. You even see the enemies on the map before they appear so you can prepare and even avoid them. A nice solid if a little dated hack slash game I actually find is more fun with a mage because of ranged attacks being quite useful when the enemies are numerous and able to be approached from a distance and the mages have the ability to stand still and heal. Nothing too original here, but it's got lots of content and if you don't mind a lot of direction of the game being up to you this is quite fun.

Amazing

A must own for ARPG fans. It has its own unique style and world. Its a bit more challenging than others of the genre but its an amazing fun loot dungeon crawler. Now On GOG!!!!

Rough Start but decent game

Having played this before I bought this out of nolstalgia. I was greeted with a tiny window and a cut off Graphics option screen. While I was writting for support I figured I'd look at \GOG\Silverfall\Data\Config folder to see if there are any setting files. Low and behold the config file was set to 600 x 400. Changed it to my resoultion and the I could at last access the graphic settings and get rid of the small screen and windowed format. I have to say most graphics probably haven't aged that well, but I loved the way you could just pick what you wanted from skills and abilities. The controls took a little getting used to again, and the animations are a bit stiff, but overall after finding the suggestion to change the text size for dialogs I am having a blast. All said and done I'd say if you are planning on purchasing, do so now that its on sale for a pittance, because full price seems steep for how old the game is.

thankful surprise

I have both on steam and I really enjoyed it! I was interested in buying them here because they have multiplayer via lan - I don't care much about drm free, but it is an extra option. Recommended!
