Et cet homme c'est vous, David, un jeune chevalier prometteur dont l'épouse fait partie des captives. Vous devrez recruter des alliés, maîtriser le combat à l'épée, apprendre l'art des arcanes et vous aventurer sur des terres hostiles peuplées de disciples corrompus de Silver afin de retrouver 8 artefacts. Commencez votre quête, et devenez un héros !
Silver est la réponse européenne aux jeux de rôle japonais, qui étaient très populaires à l'époque. Agréable à l'œil avec ses décors en 2D pré-calculés, ses personnages au style manga et son gameplay orienté jeu console, il a permis de faire découvrir un nouveau genre aux joueurs PC. C'est un jeu vraiment spécial car peu d'autres jeux de ce genre existent sur cette plateforme, alors si vous avez envie d'essayer une autre approche des jeux de rôle, ce jeu est fait pour vous !

Silver is a title I appreciated a lot in the past and that now I have played again thanks to gog.com. It is a funny title not very challenging to complete. The first thing you can notice is the combat mode where the various attacks are controlled by the movement of the mouse. The backgrounds are various and well done and the soundtrack fits well with all the moments of the game. The weapons and spells are well characterized and the magic items are useful to complete the adventure. The skills of the characters that can be included in our party are different, giving the chance to use different styles of gameplay. Silver is a good game to spend hours of pure fun.
Silver proved many things to me:
1. Brilliant and controversial games, like any work of art, rely on ingredients that can't be objectively measured - explaining the co-existence of a cult following inspite of the lukewarm reviews this game received.
2. Narratives and gameplay systems don't have to be complicated to be thrilling and challenging - thank goodness that arbitrary categories like "hardcore" and "casual" didn't distort game design back then.
3. Likewise, an epic adventurous and dramatic story doesn't have to be over-the-top sledgehammer-to-your-tear-glands melodrama with tragic turns and big explosions on every corner to be appreciated.
4. Music can have a tremendous effect on the overall experience that, in apt combination, causes goosebumps and elation.
5. All of that teaches you about how jolly it is to be a receiver of such a gift that this game is, which inspires you to create such gifts yourself to give back some joy to others.
Silver, what a fantastic game. I originally played this game on my old Sega Dreamcast back when it was first released. It was an absolutely fantastic game back then, and still holds up to this day.
Graphics:
They are dated sure, but they are still charming, reminds me a bit of the PSX Final Fantasy games, especially FF7. The hand drawn backgrounds with the polygonal shaped characters is very reminiscent of that era. The Character portraits and other 2d art are beautifully done and really add some depth to those small featureless characters. Overall I found the world had a very unique look to it, and i even noticed a bit of influence from the architecture in the film "The Never Ending Story".
Story [Spoiler FREE]:
The story, surprisingly enough, is engaging. It has a great hook that pulls you in. The addition of voiced characters really brings the narrative to life, the voice acting was good and appropriate to the characters. Much attention has been placed on building the lore of this world, you can really tell that this was someones dream project. This really shines through because it's someones lovingly crafted tale, not just a slapped together plot for the sake of making a game.
Combat / Systems:
Combat is actually fantastic in this game, it's essentially an action RPG [Hack n Slash] a la Diablo or torchlight, but it goes a step far beyond these games. It takes many elements from JRPGs or western RPGs such as Morrowind, providing a robust inventory system and many weapons to choose from. It can also be very difficult, but it's fair difficulty, if you die it's your fault, you don't feel cheated. I prefer this to the more fast paced Diablo style where they just throw hordes of enemies at you. Silver has a lot of strategy involved which I love about it.
Give this game a shot, it deserves far more than it's meager price tag, and see why those who did get a chance to play this game loved it so dearly.
I LOVE this game. When it first came out I played through it several times. However, only a few hours of playing this version has brought me several crashes. Doesn't feel stable at all. Very frustrating.
