Silent Hill 4: The Room

Disclaimer : I have not yet bought the GOG version (although i will in time), so this review is just for the game. Ahhh, SH4. How i love you. I always read mixed opinions on this game and since i played the other 3 i decided to try this as well. I had a vague memory of playing the first 20-30 minutes in an internet cafe and remembered that i liked it, so let's go ! After finishing the game -years ago- i still don't understand why it is not up there with the other 3 as a great game ! I had SO much fun ! The premise is simple. You control a man named Henry which wakes up one day and finds out that he can no longer exit his apartment (play the game to see why !). Growing more anxious and afraid he tries contacting others but to no avail. A few days pass by and Henry -to his horror and fascination- discovers that his bathroom wall now has a giant hole with no clue as to how or why it got there in the first place. Having no other way out of his apartment he decides to enter it and find out if he can get out that way..... The story is interesting as are the characters, the gameplay is classic SH fun and the soundtrack is great ! Play this game people ! It is the last great game in the main series (i say main since Shattered Memories is good too imo) !

Terrifying and subtle, at times beautiful, this is truly a Silent Hill game. A must play if you love horror with a slow burn and that early 2000's vibe.

Runs smooth and works perfectly with a gamepad. The game itself surprised me in a very positive manner. How the story is presented, the puzzles, it is very good. You may be in trouble if you miss an item or a clue, but that is the charm of old games, I guess. The atmosphere though in these old Silent HIll games is just incredible.

Great game. Would love to see silent hill 2 and 3 added as well. I wouldn't mind Silent hill homecoming or downpour either. Love all the silent hill games.
