Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack

This is one of the classic titles I spent a lot of time on, with a lot of interesting features (terrain deformation, unit customization, government customization ...) added on to your typical 4X game. That makes it one of the older games I still go back & play from time to time, and now I don't have to go get my CD. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5 star review was Alien Crossfire, the expansion not being available. Signing on today, I saw that not only is Alien Crossfire available, but they added it to the original at no extra cost.

I prefer this even to the Civ games, it had lots of improvements that never made it into those games, now that the expansion is included with the extra factions to choose from this is a brilliant game worth every penny.

Just a quick thank you, GOG, for resurrecting this game for Mac - I've tried to find a way to get a copy for my aging MacBook for years, and this is the perfect solution. You guys are amazing! Only caveat is now I will have to say goodbye to many hours of time where I should be doing something more productive, but what the hell...

I have been waiting to get this when it went OS X native, not only that but the Expansion pack is here now too!

Oh wait, it isn't a sequel. I almost forgot. It was actually released in 1999 yet its source material hasn't aged one bit. Still avant-garde with many features that modern and similar Civ games fail to implement. A spectral rainbow of possibilities in comparison to a modern grey bland monochrome tone of modern "streamlined" strategy titles struggling to create something unique. If you want a futuristic approach to a civilisation building turn based strategy game, you don't have many alternatives that offer you ample background and include modern political and global dilemma. Ganted graphics are dated, but to quote a famous Publisher: "30fps are better than 60fps anyway."
