Seems good so far
I haven't fully finished the game, hell just got started by the looks of it, but it seems to resonate with my classic turn-based strategy collection. I had the weirdest feeling doing the intro/tutorial that was akin to Deja Vu....probably me being too tired...

Shadowrun at it best ... for now
Great Game, misses some features that are standard nowadays like swapiing items between companions the easy way but it capture the spirit of Shadowrun.

Expansion released as a Stand-Alone game
A light cRPG with simple turn based combat. This was originally the second campaign for the game Shadowrun Returns, but the developer repackaged the "Dragonfall" campaign as it's own game, with a bunch of extra content and mechanics as a Director's Cut. I played the original when it first released, (it was a Kickstarter Project), and did think that the "Dragonfall" adventure was better than the "Dead Man Switch" campaign in Shadowrun Returns. I have since returned and played the Director's Cut release as well. There is no connection between the storylines of Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall, so it doesn't matter if you play this one second, or skip the first one completely. Dragonfall seems longer and is probably the better written story. I think I encountered one soft-lock crash during my playthrough, but no serious bugs or crashes. Both this game and Shadowrun Returns stories start as simple jobs that become massive conspiracies, and both address major plot elements in the Shadowrun Universe. (Shadowrun was a popular tabletop RPG in the 1990s and so the background lore is detailed and expansive). Dragonfall includes an entire "crew", your team of Shadowrunners, (basically criminals for hire), the four of them pretty much cover the common archetypes, so regardless of the character you create, (and there are many options), you'll have a good team. You can only take four people on most missions, so you have to leave one person behind for the most part. The game includes a lot of skill and stat options that only the main character can take advantage of however, your teammates can't sub into every challenge for you. Combat seems inspired by the XCOM remakes, cover is very important, and each unit gets a number of action points to spend each turn. It's pretty simple, but this game adds a few things Shadowrun Returns didn't have, like body armour, which reduces damage and can increase stats. Out of combat, the game is largely a point and click adventure with an isometric view, you can converse with some but not most NPCs. There is no voice acting, but the game isn't overwritten, conversations are usually short and to the point. I played on normal difficulty and found some combats quite difficult, although it largely was an RNG issue with enemies getting lucky crits. Especially early in the game, the game isn't generous with healing items on the first mission or two, however, I didn't realise until much later that your teammates equipment is replaced on each mission. (Your own consumable items have to be re-purchased). Healing spells in the game only heal the last hit a character has taken, so can't restore you to full health it you take more than one hit. So, the combat is simple but challenging, the story is well written, and the Shadowrun setting, (Cyberpunk with Elves, Trolls, magic and Dragons), is an interesting one. Definitely worth checking out.
