Awesome Carnage
For me Duke Nukem 3d was the greatest game ever. Now. I don't know. Serious Sam has less cheese, but I love the amount of baddies. All coming at you at the same time. You must buy this. But first take a deep, deep breath - because you will probably not exhale for a few days.

Un classique FPS du genre bourrin
"Serious Sam" premier du nom, est tout simplement un classique ! Vif, brutal, sanglant... on prend clairement un grand plaisir à détruire les très nombreuses vagues d'ennemis, avec un arsenal d'armes assez complet (pistolet, fusil à pompe, lance-grenade, couteau...), tout au long des niveaux plutôt nombreux et variés, avec un gameplay efficace. La bande-son ainsi que les bruitages passent bien... enfin... si vous ajoutez la VF par vous-même; car le jeu ne contient pas la VF (ce qui est dommage pour les francophones). Graphiquement, on sent bien que "Serious Sam" date un peu, mais franchement, pour ce genre de jeu, c'est carrément suffisant. En bref... Vous aimez les FPS bourrin, avec des niveaux où l'ennemi ne vous lâche pas une seule seconde, où vous tirez et courrez dans tous les sens ? Alors ce jeu est fait pour vous. Venez aider "Sam" à sauver la terre !

To launch this game under WIN 10 edit the file "PersistentSymbols.ini" in Serious Sam The First Encounter\Scripts folder and add lines: persistent extern INDEX sam_iScreenSizeI=(INDEX)1024; persistent extern INDEX sam_iScreenSizeJ=(INDEX)768; save the file, launch the game and change the resolution as needed

Good but not great
Playing this (for the first time) it's easy to see why Serious Sam is still getting new installments... but also why it never became that big. It's fun, with a range of enemies and weapons, and if all you want is you vs hundreds of enemies in a pure test of skill, you'll find that here. But I also felt there was a certain lack of polish, and the gameplay never really felt like it evolved. I enjoyed playing this, but I'm also not in any rush to play again.

Serious Fun
Warning: The First Encounter is a game that will make you cry. No, it isn't the story or the characters, but instead the sheer number of enemies that the game will throw at you. Just when you are hanging on your last thread of health, having defeated waves of monsters, it will lock you in a cage, wait until you are surrounded with about 30 of the toughest enemies in the game, then open the cage to let them have at your flesh. Yes, that actually happens. If you are a fan of constant challenge that is never impossible, I highly recommend this game. My only advice: Save often.
