Description
Scorn est un jeu d'aventure-horreur atmosphérique en vue subjective dans un univers cauchemardesque grouillant de formes étranges et de sombres tableaux.
Il exploite l'idée d'être « jeté dans un autre univers ». Isolé et perdu dans ce monde onirique, vous explorerez diverses régions interconnectées de façon non linéaire. L'environnement inquiétant constitue un personnage à part entière.
Chaque lieu contient son propre thème (histoire), ses énigmes et ses personnages qui participent à créer un monde cohérent. Au fil du jeu, vous accéderez à de nouvelles zones, vous obtiendrez différentes capacités, armes et autres objets tout en cherchant à comprendre les panoramas qui s'offrent à vous.
CARACTÉRISTIQUES
UN MONDE « HABITÉ » ET COHÉRENT
Scorn se déroule dans un monde ouvert avec différentes régions interconnectées. Chacune constitue un dédale de salles et de chemins à découvrir. Toute la narration est intégrée dans le jeu, sans la moindre cinématique pour vous sortir de ce monde organique et sinistre dans lequel vous vous trouvez. Pour autant, ouvrez l'œil : le jeu ne vous prend pas par la main et vous pourriez bien passer à côté d'un détail crucial durant vos voyages malsains. Chaque chose est là dans un but précis, à vous de découvrir lequel.
UNE CONSCIENCE CORPORELLE TOTALE
Le jeu vous donne conscience de votre corps et de vos mouvements pour renforcer l'immersion. Les interactions avec le monde sont réalistes : vous ramassez les objets avec vos mains (ils ne flottent pas au-dessus du sol), les machines et autres instruments s'utilisent en manipulant les commandes, etc.

In truth, Scorn doesn’t tell a particularly fascinating story, but it hardly matters; the way in which it’s told is done to perfection, and provides an incredibly refreshing horror experience that truly gets under your skin.

Scorn works wonders with Giger's and Beksiński's artwork, not only in terms of aesthetic fidelity but in creating a world that's utterly strange to exist in. This is a violent, painful, but fascinating place, thick with symbolism and interlocking puzzles that hint at some terrifying grand design. While it can be overly obscure and frustrating, especially in combat, Scorn serves up one hell of a journey.

Scorn is a hard game to pin down, but it’s one I can’t help but recommend. It’s disgustingly alluring in its visual execution, with each new location bringing with it a waterfall of questions as you poke, prod, and cower at every discovery. This ambition of being artsy and cryptic can hold it back at points, but there’s something fiercely admirable in its artistic vision that few games in the genre are able to match. This is a tragic horror of Lovecraftian proportions, and one that really must be seen to be believed.

Gorgeous if somewhat uneven game.
The visuals are stunning. I've never played a game like it. The combat is terrible, but I wasn't expecting much so that is ok. Just drink in the environment. The only real gripe I have with the game is that after hours of beautiful worldbuilding and atmosphere the last chapter suddenly veirs into cheap gross out horror. Suddenly we have to put a foetus in a blender. It's incredibly juvenile and really took me out of the game.

HR Giger and a game dev walk into a bar
... and they had this freaky baby. The highlight of the game is by far the visual journey thru its nightmarish biomechanical landscapes. What gets you thru those landscapes - the gameplay - is ok but could have been better. Puzzles are good, but bizarre and sometimes dont make much sense. The infrequent combat can be frustrating, with weapons that are slow every which way: slow to aim, slow to reload, slow to switch. And mobility is overly simplistic: no crouching, no jumping, no stealth (which would have been a nice alternative to annoying fights), and all too often one will find oneself stuck on minor obstacle any humanoid could easily step or climb over. The maps can be fairly convoluted, with hardly any guides or pointers. Easy to lose track of where to go or where you've been in these alien mazes from one gaming session to the next, or even in the same session. Still, touring this grotesque, gory world is worth the hassle. Some of the sights inspire dreadful awe.

Perfect if it's what you are looking for
Looking for HR Gieger inspired artwork, a tense atmospher, and body horror? Then this is absolutely worth getting, a unique viceral experience which will give you a pit in your stomach. Don't expect action, don't expect platforming, expect atmosphere and body horror. If you go in expecting anything else you will be dissapointed. The mechanics are clunky and the combat ridged and you cannot jump. It's perfect for keeping things tense and making you feel helpless. In short it's a horror game. But I will say, it is frustrating when you can't climb thourgh an open window.
