Description
Imagine a world created out of insanity – deformed children, ancient gods, ghosts from your past in the house inside of a water reflection. You are an asylum patient and you have just survived a car crash – the problem is you can't remember anything. Visions reveal answers to some questions, but create even more riddles! Which part of it is true? What do all these things mean?

Sanitarium is one of the few psychological horror adventure games. As the protagonist you will visit five different worlds full of riddles and answers, with which you will have to figure out what exactly is happening and what is real. The story is so incredibly good and enthralling that it could easily drive a sane person mad.

Average.

While I must admit I was a little dissapointed in the end. It had its moments where it shined. The story was unoriginal and very bland, just because you chop it into pieces and throw it around out of order does not mean it will become good. The sounds and music are indeed chilling and the cimitaics are amazing. Gameplay wise it was fun trying to solve puzzels and explore.

Does not work.

The game is totally unplayable as it crashes after a few seconds after launch. I tried various advice on the internet how to fix this issue, but was ultimately not able to fix it. Fortunately I got this game for free, but GoG shouldn't sell games that simply don't work.

Not fun

Your character moves painfully slow, the puzzles don't have interesting solutions and the characters are unremarkable. The game also laughs at the mentally ill, which doesn't lend itself to an interesting narrative. The game tends to be inexpensive. I don't regret buying it for $1 but there are far better adventure game classics to invest in.

Thumbs up

Outside of the usual nonsensical adventure puzzle solutions, the plot is great. Characters are very interesting, and the worlds you visit insane. Too bad the voice acting is atrocious.
