A different game for different people

Samorost 2 is short. It's going to resonate differently with each individual. It is from the makers of Machinarium and Botanicula. I found Machinarium easier than this one, but it hasn't got such a sad ending than the former. You got no hints as in Machinarium and this time you are a little dwarf on your mission to save your dog from alien abuse. Some people rightly complain that too often objects seem to fall out of thin air rather than having an understandable mechanism behind it (unlike Machinarium and the first half of Samorost2). It has some pros and cons Pros: + nice visuals + weird, bizarre world and atmosphere + great music & sound effects + cute main character + cute story (it's cute, and well communicated without words) + funny ending scene Cons: - too many timing-based puzzles - too many mediocre puzzles - non-intuitive interface - very tiny play area - weak plot - way too short (one hour of gameplay) Overall this game is short but sweet and beautiful point and click adventure. And OH MY DOG! :)

A very fantastic game.

This game is fantastic! This is the sequel to Samorost, and this time, you have two parts in this game. The first part is where aliens from another planet come and steal your dog. So Gnome goes off to the alien planet and rescues his dog. In the second part of the game, you have to get back home, after your spaceship crashes. You guide the Gnome character via point and click style like the first game, and most of the developers other games, such as Botanicula and Machinarium. This game is not hard at all, it is short, but longer than the first game in the series. The soundtrack is fantastic, it is very atmospheric and goes well with each level. You will meet very cool characters along the way, solve puzzles, and can interact with the environment. The visuals of this game are top notch, aged pretty well being this is a 10 year old game. Very organic, surreal artwork, fantastic audio, simple controls, this is a must buy.

Flash game ⇒ doesn't work anymore

What the game description doesn't mention is that this is an Adobe Flash game (at least the Linux version is). Samorost 2 opens a browser and simply displays a black page. Adobe Flash cannot be downloaded any more and existing installations stopped working in January 2021.

Charming but way too short

The art style is charming, but the game is way too short: 30-90 minutes, depending on the time it takes you to see through the game's dream logic. There is one particular puzzle that really bothered me. For the benefit of not spoiling what little game there is, I'll try to be vague about the puzzle. Here goes: you have to repeat a certain nonsensical task three time to collect fuel. Afterwards, if you make a mistake in the timing or order of tasks pumping the collected fuel, you'll have to repeat the process of collecting it again. Since there's little indication of the correct order of tasks when pumping the fuel, it felt like my time was being wasted penalizing me for a mistake I wasn't aware could be made.

A simple and short charming game

There is nothing wrong with the game other than it is too short. And I find it strange that the free game that started this trilogy is not included for offline play when you buy this game. As that would had given it an added value to it considering how short the game it is. I do still recommend buying it when you see it on a sale for below a dollar. Which is what I did. It is a relaxing game to play in one or maxium two bursts of time before going to sleep.
