Sam & Max Hit the Road

Adventure games used to be the best kind of video game. They made you think and they made you laugh. Sam & Max does both exceptionally well. The humour and the puzzle solutions mix brilliantly and even doing something incorrectly can sometimes trigger a hilarious response from one of the characters. The solutions to puzzles are all logical although you have to think completely outside the box on occasion, and sometimes you need to get into the demented mind of Max. In my mind, Sam & Max is second only to Day of the Tentacle as the best of the classic adventure games, even ahead of the Monkey Island series. For the many many truly laugh out loud moments in this game, I have to give it 5 stars.

Like other reviewers state, this is one of the best LucasArts action games. Nothing compares to the late 90s as far as adventure games. You really have to think outside the box to solve some of the puzzles. I still remember how long it took me to figure out the puzzle about the sight-seeing binoculars. Anyways, the main reason for this posting is WHERE IS FULL THROTTLE???? All these other amazing games have been resurrected, but who doesn't love the dry humor and gritty story of FULL THROTTLE. GOG just released 3 of my 4 favorite games by LucasArts (Tie, X-Wing, Sam Max). Hopefully Full Throttle won't be far behind.

Still one of the best and funniest adventures I've ever played. I still have my boxed CD copy! Highly recommended to one and all.

The funniest game written as of 2014 (some may argue this but all will agree that it's very funny). The dialog is a riot. The voice acting is superb. It's a bit like watching a vintage cartoon today. The brilliant pixelated character animations still hold up, and the settings and backgrounds are always an eyeful. Gameplay and inventory management are breathtakingly simple. And then there are the minigames, at least one of which has become a classic reference (Wak-A-Rat). In short, Sam & Max Hit The Road may well be a perfect game. It doesn't waste any chances to be fun or funny, and it doesn't get a single thing wrong.

Sam & Max sits there at the top along with all the best adventures Lucasarts made in its prime, its zany original and funny with beautiful 2D comic art, definitely one of the best adventure games of all time Great to see this on GOG its about time we had more great Lucasarts adventures released im hoping one day to see the whole catalogue on here like Full Throttle day of the tentacle etc etc.
