One of the All-Time Greats
One of the best and most unique Real Time Strategy games ever made. Fantastic voice cast, multiple story paths that change your abilities, strong wizard fantasy, creative art direction, and all rolled into a 3rd-person RTS with your commander on the field. From a technical standpoint it's like the Crisis of its time.

Bold and Original Masterpiece
I did not tried GOG version but folks I must admit that this was exceptional game back then and I played it alot. Maybe I may say that it is masterpiece. Before this game I played Myth: The Fallen Lords, C&C, Warcraft 1&2, Diablo 1&2, Outwars, HoMM 1&2 and definitely this game is very original and looks very fresh. However many games fail miserably when they introduce something radically new BUT this is not this case. In my opinion this game is quite balanced and very interesting mix of strategy and RPG with astonishing graphics for a time (even now it looks great). This is not a difficult game and I disagree when somebody writes that Sacrifice was extremely difficult. No it was not and it forced you to think about you minions, their abilities and abilities of your own. You can't just simply send tons of units to kill the enemy wizard. You need to gather souls and that was so interesting. Replayability of this game is very high and playstyles are really different and lead to different interesting plot twists when you play campaign. Overall, the style and design of this game is unearthly but looks really satisfying. Sounds and music are awesome and fits to the weird game setting. Actually I can't even find a game to which I can compare this game. I am not sure if I can recommend it to everyone but this game was made extremely well and if you like RTS and RPG then probably this game will suck away all your leisure time. Truly BOLD and ORIGINAL masterpiece!

Very good, better it flew under radar
While unfortuantely by this point Shiny Entertainment went out of business, however this is one of those games that would be used as an example this form of media being ART. Imagine the same tesselation tech from Messiah but cranked up and they broke off the knob for that setting. Timeless graphics and style coupled with an amazing voice acting cast. Sacrifice does not insist upon itself nor does it hold your hand, replability is endless including the campaign along with an editor and years of map making and custom campaigns to keep you satisified even though the multiplayer is long dead with the occasional revival here and there through Discord. The game will frustrate you in the first playthrough however the skills and tactics you learn from failure pay off greatly on the next restart of that mission, or you may decide to help another God instead. Use DGVOODOO Wrapper for DirectX compatibility issues, even though GOG does its best where they can this is very old code and will require a few tweaks to get it running great. For an RTS game the units are extremely fun so is the aspect of playing a Wizard commanding these units. Base building and unit composition may seem simple and dated at first, keep playing because its not. Formations matter, so does things like guard mode, positioning, high ground, you can even warp the terrain as an ability. This is just one of those games right before a company died, there isn't really a money gain here you can experience the fact that this small team put real effort and love into this title and it shows considering its 2025 of this review and I still would prefer to play Sacrifice solo than the new Age of Empires, which is good, but this is good in a better tier. If you play this for the first time, tweaked it to work and look great. Try not choosing to many Gods to serve in your first playthrough, build orders and even special units are granted for helping each God along for awhile and others get locked out in the end.

Sacrifice review
i am loving this game, i remember watching a friend play it on their PC aaaages ago but i could never remember the name, i found it after i had a lightning bolt memory in the shower, quickly looked it up and found it for super cheap! am having a blast playing through it *My way* mwahahaha!~
