Un point-and-click des plus marquant !

Runaway, Runaway, Runaway... Haaa Runaway! J'ai connu ce jeu à mes 13 ans. Je l'avais vu par hasard en magasin sans avoir lu de critique sur sa qualité. Grand amateur de point-and-click, la fourre m'avait très vite envouté. Il me tardait de mettre le CD-rom dans mon ordinateur. Dès le début du jeu, je suis immergé dans cette aventure. La musique extraordinaire nous plonge immédiatement dans l'univers. Ses graphismes lumineux aux belles couleurs et inédits pour l'époque, ses énigmes bien conçues, ses personnages aux personnalités variées à qui l'on s'attache très vite, ses univers nous faisant voyager de la ville aux déserts en passant par des lieux incongrus et mystérieux. Je peux y rejouer avec autant de plaisir qu’auparavant et une nostalgie bien présente. Il n'a pas pris une ride. Biensûre, il n'est pas parfait. Il a quelques défauts. Parfois, certains allers-retours sont redondants. On s’attend à une fin plus grandiose et certains lieux sont un peu limités. Mais ce sont des broutilles face à ce magnifique jeu plein d'originalité. Je vous félicite mes chers développeurs espagnols pour avoir pondu cette merveille et marqué le genre très fermer des jeux d'aventure. Dommage que son 2ème opus n'ai pas été à la hauteur (uniquement par sa fin très décevante) Runaway, Runaway, Aaaah Runaway...

A Great Game.

Runaway it's a great point-n-click adventure. It came out in a year that most adventures were following the Myst path and it sure made an impression. The story resembles those 80's "teenage" films in which a nerd was becoming the hero af the day (and he was taking the girl too...;)) and although if full οf cliches it's an interesting and amusing story. Puzzles are, most of the time, logical and are based on inventory, dialogues and combaining objects, but you have to be careful because our hero pick up objects ONLY when he needs them, so pay attention to his comments. The hand made graphics are beautiful and give a certain feeling to the game. I only have an objection for the models of the characters but I'm sure that the guys at Pendulo Studios gave their best considering the funds they have at the time. The voice acting is excellent and the overall sound at top quality too. To conclude, I recomment Runaway to everyone who likes adventures game. It doesn't have anything new to offer but hey! it's a game that you will remember with a smile upon your face.

dissapointing

Being a fan of this type of game and the graphical style i was very excited when i saw gog had this game. First the good points of this game. The graphics are really nice, lovely and bright, nicely animated (aside from the lip syncing). Some of the characters are pretty good, the drag queens steal the show. Its pretty amusing, it never makes me laugh out loud (for a good reason) and the story is.....okay at best. Now the bad. The worst thing about it is the illogical puzzels, they are more frustrating than anything and i found myself just loosing patience and looking the answers up in the walkthrough, not feeling guilt as i would have never thought to do what it requires. For example, i had to mix penut butter in a army helmet, from butter and penuts, fair enough. BUT i had an actual jar of penut butter in the inventory WHAT WAS THE POINT. Some ojects are so small and hard to find you could go over the whole area for hours and still miss things, and some objects wont let you find them until something activates them, so you have to go over and over places incase something turns up. The puzzels that work are good and if you had the patience to try every random item with everything you see you would proboly eventualy get through the whole game without a walkthrough. Broken sword this game isnt, and oh yes it trys so hard to be it. Even the main character is an obvious copy of george. Looks, voice and personality. This isnt a bad game and at this price its no rip off but your going to need the patience of a saint.

Must-own Point and Clicker

I truly believe that if you're in any way a point and click adventure fan from the earliest days (King's Quest VI is my reference point) you really must own this game. The animation of the characters are so fluid it's just like playing through a cartoon. I honestly thought Broken Sword was as good as it was going to get until this game came along. The locations are many and varied, the voice acting is decent, the cut scenes aren't the finest CGI masterpieces (who really buys an adventure game and worries about the cut scenes though?) and the jokes though they won't blow you away, they're certainly not cringe-making. I also love the way that sometimes, when you find the solution to something and click to activate it, the character says "heeyy, yeah..!" as in 'that's a good idea!'. If you're worried about the inventory items being too hard to find, maybe adventure gaming isn't your thing - just look up a walkthrough - because reaching the end of this finely crafted game is well worth your efforts. This is exactly how point and click adventure games SHOULD be done.

Not a classic

This game suffers from poor writing, the story is not very engaging and I weren't really interested as the plot were unfolded. The characters are uninteresting and not very likable. The dialog is dull, poorly translated from Spanish. The puzzles are not all bad, they are often logical, but you can't pick up items before the main character finds them useful. This often results in the player having to return and search the same scene over and over in order to pick up all items needed. Only play this if you already played all the classics in the genre.
