Weakness in gameplay drags it down

The game has good story but the gameplay has problems. It really is frustratingly linear at times. There were multiple times where I figured out the solution to a puzzle, but the game wouldn't let you just solve the problem. I'd have to go through this huge process just because the game arbitrarily blocked progression. I don't think its actually possible to succeed a stat check except at predetermined times, no matter what stats you have. Also the game likes to have to overstay its welcome in establishing the protagonist is stuck in a monotonous and repetitive timeloop. I don't need to go through the same experience the protaganist went through. You have to spend inspiration points to unlock objectives, but it really doesn't do anything but force you to limit how many objectives you can be trying to do at a time.. Which can be a pain if the objective is one of the harder ones. The story is pretty good, but I do feel like it wraps up pretty fast right at the end.

Excellent!

It has some minor issues (audio and subtitles not matching up, mostly) and a couple larger frustrations (you can't get the purple pill after a few loops, you can't get drunk whenever you want, and even if you know the solution to the long puzzle around loop 20 you can't solve it without the 10ish loops to discover and solve some mysteries), but it's really enjoyable. It's been a blast to play. I'm not too sure about replay value though, to be honest, which is one reason I really liked the idea of this game. I really am enjoying it though, and am excited to keep going.

Good, could have been better

I genuinely enjoyed this game and played it to its conclusion in my free time for almost four days straight, resulting in an 18 hour play time for a first run. There's a couple of mechanical issues (extended/failed loads between scenes, repeated VO dialogue overlapping in some places) and I felt the very end was a bit abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying. That said, the intriguing premise and the challenge of finding ways to progress past the psychological limiations applied as a result of attribute designation at the outset of the games was reminiscent of Disco Elysium. The music is appropriately atmospheric, the setting intriguing, the characters engaging, but most of all the narrative, woven with personal and generalized tragedy really makes this game a recommendation on my part, even given its issues and limitations.

Not really an RPG, but a great story

The game has a good, moving story, but it's more of a visual novel, not an RPG like Disco Elysium. There were like 5 skill checks and their outcomes didn't seem to matter that much. The concept of a time loop was well utilized I think, but all in all the game *felt* linear like a good old adventure game (but maybe it's not actually linear and it's an entirely different experience to play it again with different skills and different order of doing things). The loop started getting tedious at some point, but I'm guessing it was a part of experience, to immerse yourself with Eugene's situation. I like the music and the art style. I played it both on Mac through CrossOver and my old PC and it ran without issues. Also, I play more puzzle-oriented games recently (e.g. Seance of Blake Manor, Darkest Files etc), and compated to these I didn't have to think that much, or piece the pieces of the puzzle. But I guess the same could be said about DE.

Wasted Potential

When I saw the art style and the story hook I was seriously hyped. A bit of an existential dread in a very nice coat (Disco Elysium style) and cool gameplay ideas. Unfortunately, once the story unwinds, it is in my opinion quite bleak, the whole world lacks depth and I got soft-locked from progress couple of times with the necessity to repeat bigger chunks of the game – this can happen surprisingly easily and really shouldn't in a game like this. It had an awesome potential but I won't even be finishing the game, I got tired of it.
