Robin Hood - The Childhood of Sherwood
Ok, so first things first. I am very much biased in this review as Robin Hood is a childhood memory from elementary school where evry computer had this game installed for some reason. And young me loved it. But its only when I found this as an adult that finally aprecciated the game fully. There has never been a better game depiction of Robin Hood and his Companions. Each one is distinct enough that you carry them with you every mission. Especially Brother Tuck is hilarious. though because every companion has a special ability, it makes the generic ones useless, unless you want meat for the grinder, or plan to skill up your special characters. When it comes to mission design in many cases there is more than one way to get to where you need to be. There is only a few maps, so you will be revisiting them with new guard paths and new scroll quests. Sherwood is very homely as a base, thats it. Its usefulness is very much about making stuff for your characters or skilling them up in archery, slinging or melee combat. The last thing I need to highlight is czech voicover and subtitles. Under CD Project many games got Czech localisation in many cases fully dubbed over. This was one of those games, and dubing even after years is more than decent. The same cant be really said about english though. Its floppy at best, boring at worst. It almost sounds like it was dubbed on couch at home. And thats about it. I think this game is great to play through at least once. It may not be game you pick up again any time soon after beating it however. But as a product of its time, cinematics hold great, gameplay is easy to pick up, and story is more then decent.
