Simple, well made, modular, fun
Acclaim was up to something with this one. It's actually a quite simple game, which has even seen a good smartphone port. Hopefully with the appearance in GOG we'll see new air in its modding community. The main drawback is the lack of difficulty. You can polish off the game in your sleep.

Fun Racing Game
I normally don't do reviews, but this one is an exception. You start with a few basic cars & tracks, the rest need to be unlocked by winning trophies. It sounds easier as it is, as the track is "littered" with lightning bolts, which grants you a random weapon that you can use to take out the opposition, but they'll try do precisely the same to you. The Graphics has not really dated that much, but the soundtrack isn't anything noteworthy. Gameply do have a small negativity to it, as the steering do tend to be fidgety at times. And some of the track layouts do make it difficult to perform a clean lap

Unplayable with RX6800 + Ryzen5800x3d
No matter what video setting i set, framerate is slow (20fps) and makes the game unplayable. I also tried to force vsync off in the gpu drivers (the in-game option is greyed out), no dice. The game itself was super funny, i've enjoyed it so much when i was a kid.

Press C on wine. Not Formula-1 freaks!
Remember: to play on wine, you have to press c during load, or it will hang. Some time ago, I had to give this game away. It was too addicting. The physics engine is realistic- however, it exactly simulates ordinary RC cars. The graphics are flashing, happy, and very detailed. The different landscapes are drawn very natural. The emotional athmosphere is awesome. The "weapons" are super mario kart like and enrich the gameplay. However, due to the fact that they are given randomly, you get the impression that you miss something. Sure, a race's gameplay cannot be tweaked too much, or You can select between about twenty cars, everyone is different, and also differently good. (It is a game on its own to choose deliberately whether to select your current BEST car or rather a slightly weaker you can handle better.) I keep choosing the one that is more fun, then, even if it is getting more difficult. The build-in level editor is rather to make spectacular tracks, or to make stunts. But it has limitations. However, there was a third party level editor I never tried, to import graphics from a 3d program as levels. It would be nice to have a variant of the game where the meaning of the powerup items is fixed, or better, where you have to buy them from a reloading "energy". When will it be open-sourced?

LOOKS great but...
I don't have past memories of this to cloud my view of it. I loved the look of it and was excited to try this out. The levels look great, graphics are fine as is the sound and music etc... but the controls. The physics, or rather, LACK thereof was incredibly annoying! The game would be awesome if all I had to do was to drive in a straight line! But as soon as you try and turn, the car spins and skids out of control as if you're driving on ice! I tried very lightly tapping the turn, it skidded and spun out of control. So I tried slowing way too, far slower than the cheating computer cars were, then turn at a slow speed, TOO slow to win the race, and it spun out of control, and when it comes to grabbing any of the items on the track, good luck with that, with the ridiculous controls, and that driving on ice feel, you can barely stay in the race, let alone grab anything on the track. Every race I tried, ALL the computer cars got done LONG before I did! I REALLY WANT to love this game as it looks great, but I just can't. I don't play games to annoy myself, and this is VERY annoying. I don't understand all the glowing reviews AT ALL.
