Needs More Kiwi Birds...
It's a Zelda-clone with Game Boy Advance-styled graphics, especially reminiscent of Mother 3. YOU GET TO PLAY AIR HOCKEY WITH A MICROWAVE OVEN! The title is super-generic; "Reverie" is simply a word that means "day dream," and is synonymous with "joy;" searching for it, you'll probably pull up any number of other games at the same time. The least they could've done is call it Reverie: The Harikoa Island Adventure, that would've been more descriptive, at least. If there's anything REALLY annoying about the game, you only get 3 buttons to assign tools to: Square, Triangle and R1 (on a PS controller); the trigger buttons aren't really ideal to assign ANYTHING to, the Circle button is purely for Dodge Rolling, and X is purely for talking to people or examining things. You'll often have to pull up your inventory to switch tools, usually between the Yo-Yo and Dart Gun, for example. It's also annoying that the Snorkel doesn't automatically allow you to dive after you have it, you actually have to EQUIP it to one of your buttons for it to work at all. Some of the music is really nice (Harikoa, Lilac Lagoon, Maru Forest, Airey Beach), but the Plains/Main Overworld theme (and Title Screen theme) sounds REALLY ominous and foreboding to me, NOT fun and carefree-like; otherwise, most of the music is very subtle, if not minimalistic. I 100%ed this (all achievements) in 7.5 hours, all without a walkthrough, because nobody's really written one yet, it seems; a lot of that time, I just spent freely exploring the island, otherwise the game can be finished in about 2 hours, if you already know how to do everything, and where to go. My favorite part of the game was the second dungeon, and everything leading up to it; Lilac Lagoon was nice, you get to go through a forest, and visit a hot springs resort, before finally getting to a HUGE tree that is the second dungeon. The sixth (bonus) dungeon is just a gauntlet of enemies to fight through. Dungeons 4 & 5 = REALLY annoying.
